Hey...

I don't know if this an appropriate question to ask.

Do you find facebook useful in meeting people into this lifestyle? Of course, I don't mean you leave CollarMe :D

Here is a video from FEMDOM REAL group:

Ps. I find CollarMe great :)

Why is that?

mystickoolaid -> RE: facebook (11/27/2008 12:25:14 PM)

I also hate facebook. It sucks in general. The interface sucks on it... it isn't 'fun' to use. I prefer myspace if I am going to do any social networking... but according to my uber geek boyfriend, facebook is on the rise while myspace use is declining.

Usako -> RE: facebook (11/27/2008 1:46:39 PM)

Facebook is not a welcoming site, the layout and features suck. I haven't wasted the time to try and use it besides creating an account (which I can never remember) and sticking some pic on it. I hate myspace as well, that's because the general population are either idiots, bands or spammers. I wouldn't use either site to find real life friends of any sort, kink or otherwise. I just have accounts on the site just to have them.

moonvine -> RE: facebook (11/27/2008 1:48:05 PM)

I love facebook, spend hours there every day, and have recently gotten back in contact with some old friends from  high school and even elementary school that I probably would not have found any other way (last names changing and etc).

So facebook is a good thing for me...

cool123 -> RE: facebook (11/27/2008 2:24:11 PM)

I see some are with facebook and others aren't. What do you think of the movie?

MistressKittyXX -> RE: facebook (11/27/2008 4:04:21 PM)

For some reason BDSM on facebook seems awkward to me. I only use it it keep in touch with my college friends and the only reason I have it is because all of my friends in college had one and I didn't

silkenfire -> RE: facebook (11/27/2008 4:40:59 PM)

I'm a fan of facebook. I don't use it to "find" people in the lifestyle; I use it to talk to people I already know that are on it though, and a large part of my friends are of this "persuasion"

Because its far too complicated, have you added this application, so and so hugged you, buy your friends a drink and your friends are made up of people you vaguely know from school but were never actually friends with because if you were you wouldnt need to use facebook to keep up with them.

Also its bloody stupid to use facebook in this country for anything to do with your social life because empolyers check it to keep tabson you.

RCdc -> RE: facebook (11/28/2008 6:47:27 AM)

Use it as a tool and its ok.  To find out meetings and stuff it's ok but the layout is totally rubbish and time consuming.  So after the inital set up, people tend to lose interest.

Never use the applications.  They are fuckers for adding spyware and reading your cookies.  It's a virus hell.

That said I do use it, but the only people I add are those I already know.  Myspace is far superior for networking and the whole facebook is on the up and myspace isn't, is classic advertising.  Both are pretty stagnant at the moment, the biggest grower is bebo and that is because it's teenbased

the.dark.

daaussie -> RE: facebook (12/3/2008 1:09:09 PM)

I'm at uni and without facebook you are totally out-of-the-loop. Seriously, no invites to any parties, society events, socials, nothing! So, people like me don't have a choice lol

asyouwish72 -> RE: facebook (12/3/2008 1:34:43 PM)

Facebook is handy for keeping in touch with people, particularly in an academic setting (I'm in grad school- my friends all looked at me like a Luddite dinosaur 'till I got an account). It is VERY public, though, as previously mentioned here. It's therefore wise to consider what sort of image you want to present to the world there.

Also, it has never seemed like a great tool for meeting new people(regardless of orientation). I use it for keeping track of birthdays, sharing photos, etc., but it would seem pretty sketchy to start chatting someone up out of the blue.

curiousINct -> RE: facebook (12/3/2008 4:18:48 PM)

A question asked of me during a game of Scrabulous on Facebook is what caused the google search - 'What is BDSM?' [sm=dunno.gif]- that eventually led me to CM a few months ago. [8D]

But I don't, and wouldn't, use facebook as a means of meeting people in any capacity. My boss and co-workers, family and friends through the years are on my friends list - there is just some stuff they don't need to know.

The vid was cute :)

VampiresLair -> RE: facebook (12/3/2008 8:40:11 PM)

Fox runs the largest BDSM group on Facebook. Its simply called Facebook BDSM.
So, I havent so much used it to FIND people, but definitely can connect through there.

DVsFox -> RE: facebook (12/3/2008 9:08:29 PM)

There area  lot of things I hate about Facebook, but ultimately I enjoy the site.  I don't use it to keep up with my BDSM friends, but I do have a few on there and I am a co-founder of Facebook BDSM.  The amusing thing is that strange male subs from like Turkey are known to spam women(or men) with --any-- connections to BDSM at all.  So yeah, that's rather unfun and I've been on a personal crusade to ban all the spammers I can find.  That's very fun. :-)

NuevaVida -> RE: facebook (12/3/2008 11:53:24 PM)

I use Facebook. It's a nice way of keeping in the loop with family & friends, sharing pictures, and just being lighthearted about life. The interface does need some serious work, but most of my extended family is on it, so I use it for that.

I wouldn't use it for BDSM and D/s stuff.

XaviersXian -> RE: facebook (12/4/2008 2:21:16 AM)

greetings to all,

I use Facebook, but only to catch up with old school friends and relatives.

There is a kinky version of facebook out there: http://fetlife.com.  I found it after realising that friends of mine were on it.  It's free to join, and a decent place (if anyone is interested in adding me, just send me a cmail for the ID).  I find that between CollarMe (the forums on this site have done more for me in terms of personal growth than almost any other place I've ever visited) and Fetlife, I have all the M/s related contacts and information I need.

Mods, if I've somehow broken the TOS by posting this, please let me know.

well wishes,
