Damn I don't think we have a Hastings  here, my aunt does in Oklahoma though lol.

Thanks for the advice every one, We're letting it dry out an just leaving it be for a while and if they don't work any more, well he gets a 50 dollar gift card every 6 or 7 months from work, so it won't be to much of a financial burden to get him another.

Dry it out and claim on the guarantee. Cynical but it's what I would do.

Ipods are solid state devices (no mechanical parts other than the selection wheel and keypad contacts) Take the battery out, place the pod on end so the water will be assisted by gravity, and allow several days for it to dry out. The worst that could happen is that you try to power it on while still wet. Water being a conductor, you could cause all kinds of tiny carbon shorts inside if it has current running through it.

Then, you might have a chance.

Not so much cynical as dishonest.
They may be able to detect water damage, although I am not sure about that.

Depends on your iPod model....you might not be able to get the battery out without destroying the iPod.
Nothing you can do but let it dry, someplace without humidity...rice good.  Desiccant is even better (those little packets you get in equipment that say "Do Not Eat.")  For a LONG time.  So, when you think "I'll check it now,"  just don't until you do that three times.....
