Aneirin -> Testosterone ? (11/30/2008 8:05:15 AM)

Does anyone know if there is a relationship between testosterone levels and one's natural role in kink ?

eri -> RE: Testosterone ? (11/30/2008 8:08:03 AM)

I am sure there will be some people who will say yes.

I couldn't swear to this in a court of law but I don't see how it could play any role at all. Otherwise all women would have one role and all men would have another, it seems to me.

Not so; both sexes produce testosterone and use it in diff ways. Some women produce more than some men.

Yes, however, he mentioned testosterone levels and women have less than men (for the most part).

I see the roles as more "personality" then hormone level.
It would be interesting to see if anyone has done research.  Testosterone levels in women decline with age, so I guess this would have to be considered.  I don't know if women move to the other side of the slash as they age, but I doubt it.

Read what I wrote. Some women produce more (have higher levels) than some men.

Yes, and I wrote that this is the case for the most part. I could be wrong, of course, and am more than happy to be corrected! Will you please let me know if it is the norm for the average women to have the same amount of testosterone as the average man?

I mean I know testoserone levels change throughout the day due to kircadian rhythms and testosterone levels in men reduce with age, but there are also men who are now being found to have lower than accepted levels of the stuff and some have to resort to taking testosterone medication to replace or boost the  level to an supposed accepted level, a level I assume based upon the understanding that we should be much the same.

This drop in levels starts with men in their forties and might explain why some can drill away any chance they get and others are happier watching tv, as not all men start waning.

I found this on a medical site:

What is Testosterone?
Testosterone is a hormone produced by both men and women.  It is not just a male sex hormone.  In men testosterone is primarily produced in the testes and to a lesser extent in the adrenal glands.  In women testosterone is produced in the ovaries, adrenals and to a lesser extent in the skin, brain and liver. What Does Testosterone Do?
Testosterone behaves differently in the bodies of men and women, but it plays a very important role in the overall health and well being of both sexes. In men testosterone builds muscle, enhances sex drive, elevates the mood, prevents osteoporosis and increases energy. In women testosterone enhances the sex drive, helps relieve menopausal symptoms, restores energy, strengthens, bone, elevates the mood and increases the sensitivity to sexual pleasure in the nipples and genitals.
What does it have to do with ones "natural role" in kink? Nothing that I can see. I am a female with a high testosterone count, I am Dominant but I am sure that not all women with high testosterone are that way. I know plenty of males who naturally have more testosterone than females and they are not dominant at all.

I know someone who took testosterone injections and later changed to a topical testosterone solution for reasons other than aging.

If I recall correctly, he mentioned that it "cleared" his head and allowed him to focus, plan better and have greater self-control.

Oops -- edited to add that after he put on the topical solution/cream, I was strongly warned about touching that area to prevent unwanted (by me, at least!) results :-P

I agree with Lashra ;-)

:-( Edited to add a missing word for clarity!

Too much testosterone leads to male pattern baldness, a hairy ass and hair on the palms when you masturbate to excess!  Then you grow a tail and start eating grubs.

...not to mention blindness......no, wait, that's wanking. Perhaps there's a correlation between wanking, testosterone and blindness?
