if the OP is using short logs and river rock to build his cabin, why go to the trouble of carting in diesel, stove fuel or kerosene? He has all that wood and if the OP understand the concept of creating charcoal and there is sand nearby with tree roots within, digging a hole beneath, placing hot embers within and sealing up the hole trapping the heat, the OP can create briskets for BBQing. Not to mention aging it so that it could be used in the furnace for the purpose of blacksmithing. Diesel is a dirty fuel. Natural gas and propane are not an option either as they create acidics and there is quite enough of that in our environment. The OP really should use what is available around him, less reliant on outside sources ensures privacy for the dungeon that he wishes to build within his cabin.
