If the care label on your sweater says it is machine washable, then turn it inside out and put it in a garment bag. I don't wash panties in a garment bag, unless they have sequins or pearls or something delicate like that. Just plain old cotton panties get thrown in the wash. Garment bags protect the fabric from excess abrasion and also protect delicate bits like lace, beading, etc. I don't really see anything special about plain cotton panties to warrant throwing them in a garment bag. If a fabric is prone to "pulls", like a soft knit, or a silky fabric, put that a garment bag as well. Cali
