And what about when you wash your 100 percent cotton undies, * 100 percent cotton bikini cut, is the only kind I'll ever own* is it really better for the life of them to be washed in a garment bag? If it is why?

Status: offline 		If the care label on your sweater says it is machine washable, then turn it inside out and put it in a garment bag.  I don't wash panties in a garment bag, unless they have sequins or pearls or something delicate like that.  Just plain old cotton panties get thrown in the wash.

Garment bags protect the fabric from excess abrasion and also protect delicate bits like lace, beading, etc.  I don't really see anything special about plain cotton panties to warrant throwing them in a garment bag.

If a fabric is prone to "pulls", like a soft knit, or a silky fabric, put that a garment bag as well.

Status: offline 		Thank you CalifChick, All the clothing I buy is machine washable, I don't bother with dry clean or special wash only any more.

Status: offline 		I'd suggest that you button up the sweater before turning it inside out for the wash. Use a gentle cycle and, depending on the material, you might want to dry it spread on a towel so you can form it and shape it so it will last longer without it getting stretched out. I'm a fan of hand washing sweaters with Woolite but I'll throw it into the washing machine if I'm in a hurry to wear it.

Status: offline 		The towl things a good idea, by the way I never dry my things in a dryer, I line dry them, by draping them over a clothing hanger in a fashion where they won't sag and streatch.

Status: offline 		Because on the topic list it, cuts off the t on the end of garment, I had to see how it is you would use a Garmen, which thanks to 100,000 comercials has become generic for a GPS direction device to wash a sweater......I couldn't help myself!

Status: offline 		I used to turn jeans inside out so they would wear longer.  I tend to not wear alot of jeans these days.

While out looking at drapes, I wont buy any that are dry clean only.   Period.

Oh- this thread had the men here like a hound dog - --   the topic.  hehe.

I suppose thats why clothlines never came back in some towns.   :-)

not a good thing to do with a sweater...dry it flat.
