shivermetimbers -> Guy flick, chick flick, or both? (12/1/2008 11:53:04 PM)

Hoping this thread will kind of go a bit, similar to other movie threads. The thread is very simple.  A movie is listed.  The next person says whether they think that movie is a guy flick, a chick flick, or something both could enjoy. Example:

Me:   Blazing Saddles
Reply:  Guy flick......Then list your movie beneath your reply such as:
           Jaws

If you don't know the movie, take a stab at what the title suggests, and then list your movie.   So here goes:

The Exorcist

(in the interest of getting it rolling)

Both

Forrest Gump

MadAxeman -> RE: Guy flick, chick flick, or both? (12/2/2008 1:18:56 AM)

That's a date movie
Eastern Promises - David Cronenberg's fillum about the Russian mafia in London.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Guy flick, chick flick, or both? (12/2/2008 1:53:51 AM)

I loved Eastern Promises.  Although it had nice action, some gor and jam packed with gangsters, it was high in human drama and I think the female vindication in the plot had a lot of chic appeal.  I say it was a great date movie for both male and female.

Raise the Red Lantern

MadAxeman -> RE: Guy flick, chick flick, or both? (12/2/2008 3:15:14 AM)

Great choice RS. Raise The Red Lantern is a beautifully shot movie. A study of polygamy in China with the greater detail spent on the women. Once again, this would be an eye opening film for both genders and most definitely thought provoking. Difficult to find a copy these days.
Odishon (Audition).

i don't do chick flicks but will check out Eastern Promises - i love a movie with Russians in it. if you can find it, watch The Abandoned - a psychological thriller/ghost story with a Russian theme to it.

my guy movie of choice is Casino (just for the Joe Pesci getting whacked in the corn field)

This was rated a guy movie.

Yup, that's the one. It had Bing Crosby in it and I adore Bing. I didn't realize there were any others.

OK, Journey to the Center of the Earth was skipped. I say both to that one.

Tron - personally did nothing for me, so I say guy flick.
