This is a coupon site for the box so you only have to pay $30-$35 instead of $65-$75.

Ya know, I dont mind that they wanna make a change, but I do mind the fact that they are asking people to pay for a converter box so that they can still watch tv...sheesh!

The worst part is...I catch fewer channels now than I did before! With the trusty old rabbit ears, I could catch stations quite a few miles away, now the digital signal does not reach that far, and I will have to purchase a huge old "rooster tail" antenna like when I was a kid and put the unsightly thing up on the roof! Ain't progress just great!

Yea.  It sucks.  I guess it kinda makes me glad that I do have satellite so I only end up with one ugly thing on my roof.

Why bother ? There's nothing on tv anyway, cable or otherwise. I'd rather chat with you perverts.

NOW they have delayed the start date! After I watched hubby climb up that ladder and put up that antenna. And to top it off, there are no coupons left out there, so bite the bullet and pay full price for a converter, or do without local weather/news/sports.  Please, don't let the government make My life any better!

I'm in the same situation with a lot of folks. The current indoor rabbit ears work just great for the analog signal -- clear picture and sound -- but absolutely sucks for digital -- pixelation galore.

Where I live an outdoor antenna is a violation of the HOA since there is cable and satellite service available in the neighborhood (and it's not a big enough deal for me to pursue this in a court of law to get the anti-antenna provision tossed out of the covenants on my own).

Even if I could install an outdoor antenna, here in hurricane country we cannot simply plop a short mast up on a hip roof. Instead, we need to have an antenna tower anchored firmly into the ground and to the corner of the building. The tower needs to be constructed not of a single pole going however many feet up, but an actual antenna tower with at least three poles (preferably four) with all of the appropriate metal braces in-between the poles. Again, the expense of the tower and anchoring alone far, far exceeds the cost of the antenna so it's just not worth it.

As long as I subscribe to broadband internet service, I'm content to get my programming delivered in that fashion.

I'm just not getting one. Got the PC to TV convertor and can dowload just about anything I want, so why bother ?

I'll take that money and spend it on a bigger HD so I can download more.

Don't remember the exact brand of the little box because it is down on the floor behind everything, but it had EZ in it. Good picture, fully interlaced video as well as color carrier (you might have seen some that put out an image with a crosshatch in everything showing strong color, but this is not like that).

Actually I am going to turn a loser into a winner because when they finally do stop broadcasting what I don't watch anyway, I think I am going to break out the old Betamax. Man, it is a total trip watching things from like twenty years ago, see the differences in how they made/shot it as well as the commercials. The commercials are really tripped out.

Thank you fucked up government, the evenings at Termy's terminal might become very interesting indeed. Don't get me wrong, I have DLed cartoons from the 1950s and 60s, they are great, but to see this old stuff including the commercials and news briefs sorta takes you into a different world.

The best part is I used to know a garbage collector, and he knew I was the only one around who still has a Beta. Brought me every Beta tape he found, so I have plenty of uncovered ground to get through. I am sorta looking forward to it.
