TN, look at the bright side. He had the will to say no. Now that will has probably been reinforced by these events.

I have very little sympathy for the dead, it is the people they leave behind who deserve that. The dead do not care. Even at that, if even one young person was sitting on the fence thinking about trying drugs, this might dissuade them from doing it.

Note that this is from someone who advocates legalizing all drugs and selling them in stores, like beer. This is perhaps the other side of the coin, those who are left behind. But then, that seems to happen anyway doesn't it ? Maybe we don't need more laws, maybe we need more people who raise kids like you did.

Kudos, and be well. Like other tragedies, this will pass.

Thanks Term. I wish I could take all the credit, but I made a shitload of mistakes raising him. I guess if I'd done it right he wouldn't have been involved in that shit in the first place. But I guess there were seeds planted that finally took root. These aren't the first friends he's lost to drugs one way or another, so I think that had a lot to do with turning him around. I think he got to see for himself the really nasty side of drugs pretty early on. I'm just glad my son got a second chance. Some don't.

TN they don't come with manuals, hell they don't come with the plumbing completely under control or with the 3rd eye and arm we need to keep them under control. We are their primary influence until age 5 and then after that the rest of the world contributes its input from peers to teachers. We can only have faith we gave them what they needed up to that age to continue to trust and hear us. They grow and thrive despite our mistakes and theirs. All you can do is your best and trust it is good enough. Seems between you and life examples...it was.

You can't ask for more than that.
