So. i have recently had the good fortune to be taken in by a new Mistress. She's really heavy into rope bondage, which is fine by me, i assure you. However, the other day, She made me wear a rope tie, a bit like the Karada tie, for those of you who know what that is, under my clothes to, of all things, my college's Jazz Band gig. i will admit, it was kind of exciting, knowing that i had this thing on under my shirt, where it could be easily discovered by a simple pat on the back, but.....is this kind of thing normal? Do many Dommes do this sort of thing? i should mention, BTW, that i am IN the Jazz Band, so i was not only there, but up on stage in this state.

Some do, some don't. You need to decide for yourself if being outed like this is a hard limit and if so, then inform her of it.
Seems to me you're putting the cart before the horse. The time to have questioned this was before you risked something you don't want to happen. Nest time you meet, make it for conversation first, not play.

i'm not saying i don't like it. i kinda do. i just wondered if it was common, or if it was a weird thing. And it's not an "outing" by any stretch of the imagination. everyone i know knows i'm kinky as hell. 'Cept, you know, my mom, and i'm almost certain she suspects it.

I'm not asking for advice, I'm just wondering how common it is. i was just sorta curious, is all. It's early, I don't have classes for like, two hours, and I was bored, so I asked.

I once had a slave that I gave a collar to that she would keep on her at all times but to wear it around her neck would have not been good for her professionally (we didn't have some of the cool low-key collars that are around today and are more socially acceptable), and it just would not do since she was involved with the local government. So she would adjust it to wear around her upper thigh when she was out for business and such. When she got home, she'd put it back on about her neck, thereby keeping it on her at all times. She was very clever, and she loved the way she felt when it was in either place. It was discrete, but the collar served it's purpose nicely no matter where it was worn.

Underclothes bondage, either a harness or rope, is pretty common for skilled rope enthusiasts from what I understand.
