I was wondering how other white people feel about this? Do you see your 'race' as being unseen or irrelevent? Or do you see it as being highly relevent because of the advantages it affords you?

I want to note that in general Canada did not profit nor contribute to the American slavery of the black populations stolen and uprooted from African soil.  Our underground railroad in fact even aided and caused benefit to many who used this system to escape and re-establish stability and sanity for themselves and future generations. I feel no guilt or shame in matters of these, nor does it influence my life except to feel pride that my ansestors aided in their time of chaos and crisis.

What Canadians and Americans did the the Native Indians is so disgusting that it only makes me ashamed to be white.  They are the invisible, so much so that (example 1) even the Code Talkers recieved minimum recognition or retribution for their contribution to alied efforts since WWI.  They are the invisible, many living in squallor today.  (Example 2) The abuse at the hands of the Canadian Government and her clergy of the Native peoples, culture and languages is also as equally shallow and morally offensive. The sexual abuse alone they suffered eeesh, it would give anyone nightmares. (Example 3) The Japanese internment camps is another example of how the white pious pimps of government 'lawmakers' made crucial mistakes in the cruel maltreatment of hundreds of thousands of Canadian/Japanese citizens.

Now, this territory has become so deeply multi-cultural, much more than American states.  I am used to it, it doesn't bother me as some claim it does to them.  Sure, I tend to notice fewer and fewer whites, but for some reason the thought of invisibility doesn't give me cause to feel threatened.

I have high hopes that those 'we' as a nation helped (whether immigrated newcomer or via crisis) will in turn not allow 'us' whites to become an invisible minority.

I think people fear less about being somewhat 'invisible' someday than maybe their subconcious guilt and shame leads them to perhaps 'fear' a more 'colored' populus.  Agree or disagree, but something I ponder.
