Anyone else noticing that, other than me?

No, but if you have noticed that, it should make you terribly happy.

Sanity -> RE: They Won't Give Him Credit (12/5/2008 3:15:56 PM)

What, happy that Obama is becoming little Bush Jr?

They're sounding like twins. "More and bigger deficits have to be better, right? How many more trillions you think we should throw at this thing... we can just print more if we need it."

Yeah, happy, happy, happy.

That's me!

Why not acknowledge the good along with the bad?

I suspect that a large part of the problem is that he is so unwilling to acknowledge the bad and he's not focusing attention on the things that most folks would agree were good.  No human being can go through 8 years of anything without making some mistakes and bad decisions, and he made a lot of decisions that people are unhappy about.  He had to know folks would be asking him whether he had regrets.  He could have deflected the question in a job interview way, saying that he regrets not doing more about some of the good stuff, instead he focused on having no regrets about the bad stuff.  He's got no one but himself to blame for the press he's getting.

That's when we enter the territory of bad PR... bad PR usually occurs because it's impossible to turn bad news into good, or even okay, news. Bush went so far that it takes an act of faith to see anything good about his presidency. An act of faith, or a will to rewrite history.

Edelbrock: "6. The current economic crises  has 2 roots, the Democrat plans forcing lenders to give subprime loans, and labor unions making it unaffordable for major assembly companies like Ford, GM, etc. to operate within the US. "

Yeah, that Barney Frank... making all those tough-guy Repubs and those hard-nosed bankers his bitches. Hahahahaha

You should know better. Nobody, either in Africa or  anywhere, has gotten a penny of  that money. I suppose the check is in the mail.

PR.

PS: mike, mind who you address your  posts to, or I'll have to tweak your nipples again.

Tart ! Never, ever again offer to tweak another man's nipples in a reply to me ! [sm=angry.gif]

Giving him "his due" actually benefits Herbert Hoover more than anyone else...

Other than allowing Smoot-Hawley to pass, Herbert Hoover handled the 1929 economic downturn more or less ok, and if FDR had left well enough alone the Depression would have been over by 1936.

So yeah, give all of them their due. I'll even give Dear Leader his due.....as soon as he actually does something besides run his mouth.

Of course, the other, more accepted argument is that Hoover's lack of action allowed the recession to deepen into a depression that even the best efforts could not reverse.

Your current hero in the White House seems to accept this as he has obviously not been willing to let things run their course.

tweedydaddy -> RE: They Won't Give Him Credit (12/5/2008 5:17:37 PM)

The man started two completely unecessary wars against people who had little or nothing to offer in the way of resistance and still managed to get a lot of good people killed for nothing. His rank alienation of the rest of the world has done nothing for the international standing of the USA. His pathetic grip on reality allowed the US economy to more or less collapse, throwing millions of good people out of work and home. he did nothing at all to help the working people of the USA to get better healthcare, education or housing, he did nothing for the people floored by hurricane Katrina, absolutely, categorically nothing at all.
By tying overseas medical aid to outdated religious concepts he prevented effective contraception being made available to Africans who are hopelessly trying to cope with the children they already can't feed.
America is almost on the ropes, with the growing economic powerhouses of asia already deeply biting into every industry, anyone who looked at the made in labels on goods bought in the USA over the last few years can see that.
Obama is taking on a country that has been shot in both feet by this corrupt and weak regime, God help him.
I give Bush the credit for every single success for which he has earned it, he made the Saudis incredibly rich. He made every last one of his friends rich.
But maybe I'm being a little hard on him, he has given a host of honest, hard working Americans the one thing money can't buy - poverty.

So you consider $30Billion to fight AIDS in Africa "stupid"? Does that include the additional $30Billion that the G8 nations committed towards combating HIV/AIDS worldwide?

As long as there is a single American without adequate healthcare, I damn sure consider it stupid.  Those are MY taxes, and if we're gonna be charitable, let's take care of our own first.  I feel the same way about programs to feed the hungry, build businesses, etc.  Take care of the citizens that are paying into the government FIRST!

How about you let the "Dear Leader" actually become president first.  It's hard to do anything when the job isn't even yours yet.  Bush has another whole month to screw up before Obama can start fixing it.

10. I can cite resources for ever statement made here, but the bottom line is when people have decided they are going to hate something no amount of source, logic, or reason is going to change their mind.  If you do seek resources to confirm or refute me 5 minutes on Google is all you will need.  The Associated Press website is a great resource.  If my schedule permits I will post resources later, if not use Google.

Google, you say?

I'll have to try that.  I think I've heard of it.

Isn't that the place people go to find facts to support their opinions?

You know, the same place your "busy schedule" didn't allow you to visit before you posted.

At some point perhaps you might even consider refering to "Dear Leader by his name and or tittle....I mean if you are going to start a thread discussing giving Bush his "due"...you might want to look in the mirror and give "Dear Leader" his due...you know being elected President and all.

Umm, Mike?  Didn't Bush do that twice?  Granted, the second had a lot to do with dumbshits on the left handing it to him, but that same thing could be reversed to apply to Obama as well.

Crazy idea here.  How about applying the same standards, regardless of the letter after the name?

add:  Oh, and Mike, you can control who your posts are in reply to by paying a tiny bit of attention to the process, and not just defaulting to the box at the bottom of the page.  Or you could type the generally recognized FR on the top line to negate the problem.

Soooooooooo bad... and still, they won't give him any credit... so unfair...

Perhaps Heretic you will notice in this post and in others I refer to the man by name, not some dubious appelation such as "Dear Leader".

Termyn8or -> RE: They Won't Give Him Credit (12/6/2008 5:35:17 PM)

Credit ? Perhaps I missed something. I thought he was elected Persident of the US, not Africa, nor Israel, nor England.

Is some of that aid going to Mugabe's murderous regime ?

I fully agree with giving credit when credit is due, but none is due for this. Try again.
