I see my collar as an outward symbol on an inward condition and committment. Whether there is a physical collar around my neck or not I am still his. I am still collared.
Just my personal truth,
Maggi

The collar I wear is a symbol of our relationship.  As a symbol it pleases her, and sometimes brings me comfort when outside influences seperate us for brief periods of time.  That said, if some bizarre situation occured where the collar was stolen or destoyed it could be replaced.

The fact that I do wear it every day in itself requires some commitment.  I could physically remove it at anytime.  I do not because that would be breaking one of the foundation promises I made entering this relationship.

I know of DomAsses that throw collars out to gullible subs like pez dispensers.  Those "collars" mean everything to the sub that took them because there usually wasn't time for a relationship to develop.  Then when the 'Dom' flakes he leaves a shattered, hurt sub who isn't even sure what a collar means.

For me, the phyiscal collar is no more important than a necklace.  I tend to make the one I give to the sub, just to make it more personal.  But it's the connection between us that makes it mean anything.  Now the act of the sub to wear it, to wear something that shows her inner devotion is what I actually consider important.  Whether it's a bracelet, anklet, or necklace she wears daily or something she wears at certain times, I do enjoy seeing it on her skin!

Just curious to know how people see this:
Assuming that collaring implies ownership, what do you think is more important... the decision/committment to 'collar' a sub/slave or the physical collar itself?

For me, a collar is merely a collar; it is a tool to control. While it holds symbolic meaning insofar as it is something worn by slaves or kept animals, I don't attribute any ceremonial significance to it. I'd say the decision to accept servants into one's care is the important part, weather or not they wear a band of polished silver or crude chain around around their necks. Giving ceremonial significance to the collar is well enough if it's important to you, but for me, inanimate objects are just that.
