I'm a girl who has come across BDSM in the last few months and my interest in it is more than fleeting. I want to learn all about it that I can so that I know if it is really for me. If any of you have any comments, suggestions, or advice, please feel fee to leave them. I know pretty much next to nothing but I want to learn very badly. Thank you everyone!

Welcom AINA

Welcom to CM from Holland I'm a master with over 20 years of expertice in de cene and the only advice I can give you is to have a go at it with someone you realy trust or know a little bether than the first Dom. that cross your path.
If you realy are in love and you are sure about that person let it happen, go to a Mistress and tel her you want to know and learn, and thath your straith, so no sex. she will know corse BDSM is so much more than SEX.

Feel free to ask me wath ever you like to know Bigod

I'd recommend you look at the collection of books at www.greenerypress.com. There are some really excellent nonfiction books about the scene available now... a far cry from when I entered it.

One of the advantages of an overview book like SM101 is it can give you an idea of what specifics you are really interested in so you can come to places like CollarMe with specific questions.

I'd also recommend getting involved in some offline educational groups in your local area. A good source for these is www.darkheart.com/usalist.html.

I see you are in Oklahoma. If you are near Oklahoma City, there is a nice group called Diverse Paths (www.diverse-paths.com). I'll be flying out there in April to do a presentation on Mindfuck/Fear Play. My partner for the demo will be an old friend, Lady Gold, so the demo promises to be spectatular.

Welcome to collar me and the boards aina. We hope you enjoy your explorations here and in the lifestyle. If you have questions, just post them. There are a lot of people here willing to share their viewpoints. As has been posted, SM101 is a good starter book. Read all you can find, talk with others in the lifestyle, read sites and message boards regarding the lifestyle(and remember to use your own commonsense, just because it is written or someone says it, does not make something clad in stone, chuckles).

I only "came out" in November of 2005. I have already found the perfect Dom for me and I am very happy. I read John Warren's book "The loving Dominant", I also read SM101 and found the Albany Power Exchange and Castle Realm excellent sources of good advice.

The most fantastic thing was to find out I was not alone and not really all that weird.

love to you all from tendergirl (sub to Gman50)

That may be the greatest gift that one can receive.

Hello aina, and welcome to the boards. All I can say is what has been told to me...participate in discussions, get out and meet others in the lifestyle, ask questions ( the only stupid question is the one not asked ), and read, read, read.

In addition to learning that you are not alone in this quest and that there are many others on this path of discovery (yes, John Warren, that IS its own gift to know), as a submissive you need to know that all Dominants/Masters/Mistresses are also on a path of discovery. No one has all the answers (some may assert they do), there is no one correct way of doing this (some ways seem to work better than others), and yes - to echo others - go slow, be safe and be curious.
