I want  to learn to speak German. No particular compelling reason; just always had a hankering to do it, and I figured what the hell - now's as good a time as any. I've seen a lot of ads for the Rosetta Stone language software, and was wondering if anyone who has experience with them could tell me whether it's a good way to learn the language?

Anyone have any advice to offer? Or, failing that, are there any German women who'd be interested in marrying me and teaching me the language so I can save 500 bucks?

well i do not know if there are any german speaking women here that will do that.

but, what i can also recommend is this, there are web sites for learning languages for free, some come with pronunciation as well adn how to properly use in sentances.

or maybe you'll be luck and find someone who speaks it well and is will to teach you. that's how i learned to speak gaelic.

Rosetta stone is a good programme. Many companies and individuals I've worked with, have used it very sucessfully.

Look on eBay and you can find people selling used copies of it and save some cash
