The one who declared the unnofficial war on communism wasn't a president, but Senator McCarthy, who might as well had been president with the political power he wielded.

you got a whole lot of people that came back from southeast asia in a box (and yes, i donated to that one) thanks to a couple of presidents, so don't tell me we didn't go over there to stop the commies from taking over the world. i remember very well studying communism out of a little *red* book in high school even after said conflict was winding down.

funny that we didn't get taken over (remember, the communists were going to terrorize the free world and convert us all to their "evil, wicked, mean, and nasty" ways) after all and that now the largest communist nation (that would be china, helping cover our growing debt) is funding our little tete a tete in iraq. why do we study history again? are there lessons to be learned?

and that's all i got to say about that.

0-3?
Don't forget the war on porn
The war on "illitericie" (go Bush)
The war on pollution, war on obesity, war on drunk driving, war on smoking, war on poverty, war on gambling, war on????
I think we are like 0-23467.
Sadly, with all the "minimizing" of the term war, people are desensitized to "real" war. Enough so that the majority of US citizens have no idea idea how many US troops have been killed, how many wounded and of course we will never know how many Iraqi's have been murdered or mutilated. [>:]

Seeing as how America is 0-3 in wars against concepts (poverty, drugs and now terror), it really doesn't bother me. Its just going to add to the conservative let down later on.
