Sometime early yesterday morning or the night before, some asshole stole my car.  I'm considering installing an anti-theft device on my next vehicle.  Which one do you think would make the most lasting impression on carthieves everywhere?

Yes, these are grotesque and disturbing "anti-theft" devices.  No, I don't condone taking the law in one's own hands in this way.  I have a right to be pissed off and right now, I am beyond pissed.  Anybody that can be so callous that they don't even consider or care about the hardship they're inflicting on an innocent person deserves to suffer in a most extreme way.  That was my only mode of transportation and I don't have the kind of resources to just go out and replace my car because some f****** low life thug decided he/she needed to take my vehicle out for a joyride or whatever the hell he/she did with it.

That's a shitty thing to happen - I'm so sorry!

A few years ago after I'd had my 4th car stolen from outside work in London, I got a phone call from the local police to come to the station.  My insurance by this point was through the roof, all I could afford to buy and insure were knackered old bangers, and I couldn't even stop owning a car cos I needed one for work.  I'd also been burgled twice in the previous 6 months, both times when they found I had nothing to steal, they just trashed the place.

Anywaym I had to stand in queue behind all sorts of skanky low-life coming into sign the bail register until I was seen by the desk officer.

He said that my car had been found, although it had been set on fire.  I asked him whether there was the charred corpse of the bastard who nicked it still sitting in the seat behind the wheel, and when he said 'no' I said 'pity'.  Guy behind me apparently came in to sign the bail register - he was waiting for charges of car theft to come up in court.  He went off it!  Had to be restrained by two big burly policemen.  Most amusing...in a bitter, twisted kind of way...

please note:  before anyone gets upset by my hatred of bastards who think it's ok to nick my stuff when I had sod all to nick, be aware that I do not condone killing criminals.  I'd have been happy with a couple of broken legs and a spell in prison.

I'm really really sorry about your experiences.  To have your car stolen once is bad enough, but four times?!

I hope that was the last time that happens to you ~HUGE HUG~

p.s. heh...the reaction of the thug behind you was appropriately amusing in my opinion :)

The most disturbing characteristic of these devices is their complete lack of availability.....now that's a crime.

Being in GB and and the economy the way it is, I wonder if you could hire a few SAS chaps and be cheaper than the insurance...

Hmmm....there's a thought.

Here in the US there's a few Blackwater types that might be looking for work soon.....

Although the 2005 model quite an improvement over the 2003 model I bet it costs alot more.

Has anyone seen the trunkmonkey series ? I have it, I would upload it but have FTP issues right now.

I know a good way to kill someone,, but unfortunately it won't catch a thief. Take 1 sawedoff* shotgun, tie it up under the steering column and wire the trigger to the brake pedal linkage. The problem is for the most part a car thief would notice it and say "Cool, a free shotgun".

I saw a Chrales Bronson movie in which a car was wired, it was one spy against another. There was a note hanging on the mirror that said effectively in so many seconds POOF I win. Something like that. I assert to this day there was no timer, that the bomb was set up to go off the second time the door was opened.

Why do I think of things this way ? Do I need a shrink ? I mean seriously, almost every time I see someone get killed in a movie or whatever I swear I could've done it better. Well with certain exceptions I guess.

If you can't find the trunkmonkey series I can email it to you if you throw the addy at me on the other side. That's the way it has to be until I figure out what to do about this FTP issue.

*Sawedoff IS one word in this vernacular.

You're referring to the ending of "The Mechanic", and they were mob assassins, not spies (well, Charles Bronson was a mob hit man, Jan-Michael Vincent was a bored rich kid looking for some fun while avenging his daddy's death.)

I agree with Celticlord, the fact that none of these devices are commercially available is a crime.

Now, personally, I believe that a theft proof vehicle can be designed, and in such a manner that would restrain the individual until law enforcement personnel are summoned, if that is the desire of the intended victim.

To that end......

First, modify the body of the car so that it can fire tasers at the offender in all possible arcs, when he begins to regain the ability to function, the car hits him again.

Second, a robotic arm is deployed at the same time to grab the offender by the crotch.

Third, two robotic devices seek out and grab the offender's wrists and pull them into a spread eagle position, while identical devices grab the ankles....

Third, a specialized device removes the offender's clothing.

Finally, after the offender has been rendered immobile, naked and at the mercy of any passers by, the vehicle deploys a shelf with various dildos (ranging in size from small to OMFG,) whips, etc, and a sign is raised inviting anyone who desires the opportunity to administer punishment to the offender.

A on/off switch would be provided for the taser system.

It has even be suggested that a condom dispenser be provided so that the offender can provide some extra income for the owner of the car.

I use the term offender because auto theft seems to be an equal opportunity offense.  In this way, the public has the chance to administer justice in a way that the offender will not forget.

The problem is that there is the distinct possibility that the offender will actually enjoy the public punishment process.

This idea was developed by my daughter and her partner when, while my daughter was delivering my youngest grandchild, their car was stolen from a hospital parking lot.

I am not sure if allowing a women in labor to aid in the design of anti car theft devices is a good idea.....
