I wrote this somewhere else, but I thought I might share it here, too.  I know there are plenty of good folks on these boards who support the military people deployed elsewhere and it might be something you'd enjoy reading.

Dear Santa,

I know you already granted one of my Christmas wishes. Bringing My husband home for the holidays is more than I could ask for and I'm just counting the days until he arrives. It would be great if My husband, My sub, and Myself could all be together for the first time in seven months, but I'm not going to push My luck.

I'm really happy that you've seen fit to do this for Me and all, but I kind of have one other request. See, I kind of figure we're the lucky ones this year. We'll all be on the same continent. We'll all be warm and safe. We'll have loved ones around and extended families. Probably good food and a comfortable bed.

I guess the way I see it is, while I know I'm lucky, I know there are lots of folks like us who aren't. There are lots of families split up because one of them is serving in a foreign land. They won't get to be together, because of the choice they made. They are making a sacrifice, and they may be on the other side of the globe from the people they love.

So, since you're kind of in the package delivery service anyway, Santa, I was kind of wondering if you might look out for those special packages that will be delivered across the globe this year. You know the ones. They call them care packages in a soldier's terms. They get sent by family and friends who care about people serving in the desert or in the cold. Sometimes, they even come from folks who just appreciate a stranger serving the country and come from those they've never met. Could you, Santa, maybe look out for those and make sure they arrive on time? I hear they mean a lot to those who aren't at home. Maybe you could even find some elves to help you with the project.

Thanks in advance for your help on this, Santa. Remember to thank the elves for me, too.
In the spirit of the season,
Lady Pact
