I've seen a sort of two pronged cattle prod device used in amateur BDSM videos. It must deliver a nasty jolt as after the first shock the women go into a panic to avoid any more. It really gets them sweating.

What is that device called and where can I buy one?

Also - I've also seen doms using a personal tazer (not the police version with the needles but instead the kind that has two metal points) to shock a sub's behind during intercourse. Is such use safe? (assuming of course that the lady is of normal health)

Google "cattle prod".

It was described by Tony de Blas (designer of the Leather Pride Flag) as "wholly un-erotic pain".

My Sir got one  -  and used it on me. I don't like electricity, and he knows this, but even so, he was surprised that i was crying after the first shock. It is strong and tingles afterwards.  Its way worse than his viole(n)t wand, even when used with a needle. [:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(]

to me it felt like punishment, rather than funishment.

I'm not sure about the amature ones, but I know a lot of the pro sites will tone the voltage down for shoots.

You might wish to try one of these, instead of a full force cattle prod.

The cattle prod I have used on me is not exactly fun... its definitely a fear toy. It was purchased from a regular animal supply company.. (cheaper).. has 2 settings and ive only ever taken it on low. Bear in mind cattle prods are designed to cause pain in animals with thicker skins... i.e. it really bloody hurts.
Ive never played with a tazer.. and wouldnt want to, beyond my limits and since the purpose is to incapacitate some one not really seeing the point.. for me the fun is getting 1 or 2 shocks with the prod and the fear of more will really kick me into sub mode

Shy:  How would that compare to a voilet wand in terms of intensity?

I've been hit by a cattle prod once. A meter long one with 6 d cell batteries set on high.

Dad when to hit a cow whos tail I was pulling and slipped. He fell and it slid around the cow and hit me in the thigh. The fall caused him to accidentally press the button. I only got a monemtary zap as it slid across my thigh through my jeans. Hurt like heck but I was still able to stand. (Worse than when a horse knocked me into an electric fence while I was taking a leak.) Violet wand did not compare.

Think about it this way - cattle prod was made to motivate a 1800 pound animal with thick hair and a quarter inch thick hide. An animal that routinely take stings and bites from insects. I've seen a single zap send a cow right through a barbed wire fence ripping the hide and snapping a fence post.

I would try it on myself before I tried it on someone else - on the lowest setting.

cattle prods are available at farm supply stores but they are very strong jolts. the personal tazer is much better unless its total obidiance you are after after the first shock a slave will do almost anything to avoid a second one.

I've seen them for sale at rural truck stops.

A bit stronger. Not nearly as powerful as the cattle prod's or tasers. It is a sting to be sure, but you recover almost instantly after it, and can continue with the zaps over and over in various positions due to the nearly instant recovery.

I'd describe it as a static shock type sensation. You know you've been stung, but just as quickly the pain/discomfort is gone.

My brother and I got in a "sword fight" with some when I was young and dumb and I got hit a few times. We had them set on high, and each time I ended up on my ass, way worse feeling than a stun gun.

Man, now y'all got me curious! [8D]

If you've got a bit of tinkerer in you, get a cheap "electric flyswatter", open it up, and cut off the big grid. Solder a couple short lengths of wire (like 14ga household ground wire) to the leads that used to go to the grid, and fasten them to the end of the remaining handle about a half-inch apart. Presto.

If you're even handier and cheaper, you can cobble something together with the flash circuit off a disposable camera, but I'm not going to type all that out (check out instructables.com)
