Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles

and then reality set in.......

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/8/2008 3:42:28 PM)

Well here is one place he can start http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reports_pigbook2008

celticlord2112 -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/8/2008 3:46:08 PM)

And how many of his Democrat "allies" in Congress will back him?

kittinSol -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/8/2008 4:18:51 PM)

Thank fuck the man is intelligent enough to adapt his program to fit the strenuous circumstances that were left as a leaving present by his predecessor.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/8/2008 4:22:51 PM)

So it is all on Bush? The House and Senate are absolved of all responsibility in spending?

That seems to be where he will meet a great deal of resistance, especially with all the farm subsidy items.

What pork barrel spending items can plausibly be laid at Bush's feet? Please be specific.

Dear Leader lacks even the common sense to spin his backpedaling convincingly, or to make nice nice with his masters and mistresses on Capitol Hill.

$250+ billion per year for the contracting created to do things the feds did cheaper prior to 2001. Much of this involved no congressional input but involved already allocated money and then long term contracts with unbelieveable withdrawal penalties. Clearly illegal and unenforceable if the DoJ cared to fight enforcement of the penalty clauses however...

Pretty much yes.

Congress is not absolved, but for the majority of his two terms he had a Republican majority which went along with the whatever the leader of their party wanted.

Regardless of who you credit, Clinton or the Republican Congress, the reality is a balanced budget was achieved during his last couple years in office.  In fact, even a small surplus.

So I don't see how doom and gloom, "we can never make this happen" articles like this are helpful or even credible.

pahunkboy -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/9/2008 4:49:05 AM)

the debt isnt all bushes fault.    where has pelosi been?  hello?

Im not impressed by her change.. her 'restoring" the congress.  what a shill.

they are all currupt.   it is like the entire CM list is getting onto the plane.  we know it is going to crash, if we dont ditch the baggage.  but none of us will.  so we then crash.

It's very helpful to realize that Dear Leader's plans for "rescuing" the economy can be summed up in three short words:

It Won't Work

The more people realize this the more likely Congress will be compelled to do something reasonable and responsible--like stand around with their hands in their own pockets for a change.

Yeah, I get it.

Obama ... bad.  Everything Obama thinks... bad.  Everything Obama does... bad.  Everything Obama doesn't do... bad.

Does that about sum it up?

No.  Not even close.

Just that Dear Leader promises the sun, the moon, and the stars, and people need to understand that he has neither the resources nor the capacity nor the intent to make good on any of them.

And you, CelticLord2112, have written the new Book of Revelations that will tell Your people the Truth [8|] .

SilverMark -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/9/2008 5:24:41 AM)

There is a lot of fault to be shared by a lot of people....Congress, Bush the American public, do you think perhaps we could give Obama a few days in office before we start claiming abject failure? His leadership, is the only leadership I have seen recently....Bush is too busy avoiding anything like responsibility to do much. Congress will wait for Obama for the most part and take no responsibility aside from the latest crisis. Be realistic, 2 years of Democratic leadership in the Congress vs the previous 6 by the Republicans, a sitting President that lead us down a path of financial ruination with a war that was poorly planned and had no exit strategy, pork barrel spending with no end in sight and now the bailout dejour. The man has yet to sit in the oval office, he desreves the chance he won in the election and if that means that there are to be changes in a time frame for some of his policies than a realistic time frame is apropriate.I have a feeling that even those who disagree with some of his ideas will work alongside of him to try to fix the economy on both sides of the aisle. Perhaps a centrist Obama is the best Obama? Things can only WORK if they are given the opportunity to do so.

kittinSol -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/9/2008 5:26:27 AM)

But Mark, you're advocating reason: that won't cut the cheese, with those that just want to get indignant just for the joy of it.

SilverMark -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/9/2008 5:29:07 AM)

I know, but I can fantasize can't I?...aside from the ones involving....oops....wrong topic!

pahunkboy -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/9/2008 5:43:15 AM)

The British empire,  the Keynesian method of governance wont let its subject colonies secede.

The US thought it did, but the globalists are back.

We are "free".   So free that the power structure takes, takes and takes.

Any prez that furthers the new world order is a treasonest.

RacerJim -> RE: Promises Promises: Obama budget cuts face hurdles (12/9/2008 5:44:30 AM)

NObama's chickens (no experience, poor judgment, broken campaign promises, lies and obfuscations) are coming home to roost!

As that ages-old adage goes: "Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it."  Obamabots asked for "CHANGE", and now they're getting it.  But for the fact that America will suffer for it I'd say "Deal with it."
