BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II

US Ranked 4th

After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.

"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however considering their entire body of work--including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule--our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner stated "The US only had two major victories--Japan and Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head contests--they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted event."

German Chancellor Adolph Hitler said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn 'style points' to enhance Germany's rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional forces."

The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented " France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking they only fell to #2."

Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the Philippines.

Russia finished a distant #5 with only one qaulity win, over Germany, to sway the computers.

The United Kingdom finished #6 with only one quality win, over Germany, and what the computer saw as a loss, to Japan.

That twisted bit of irony made my sides hurt...

I don't believe that even that whimsically warped example of logic will set the NC two A aristocracy on it's collective asses. I think they feed on the hullabaloo...

Caitlyn, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Sweden "neutral" in WW2?

cloudboy -> RE: College Football (12/8/2008 8:02:14 PM)

That pretty much sums up the situation.

--------

How did Alabama go from being the front running to play in the BCS Championship to having to play UTAH in the Sugar Bowl??

Its a MAD MAD MAD world out there. Penn ST. v. USC looks like a good matchup.

Charlie Weis saved his job by qualifying for the Hula Bowl.

[8|]  So am I the only one that the BCS is not making sense to? Some of these matchups are out there......

Of course, I'm a BSU Broncos person (hey, I'm from Idaho, what can I say?!?) and we're at the Poinsettia Bowl. In San Diego. Guess they thought we couldn't handle something like the Fiesta Bowl again, even though we're 12-0. Let's see, who'd we beat last time? Oh - that's right. Oklahoma Sooners. [sm=dunno.gif]

Troy? What a load of bollocks.

You ever sat all day in the sun watching the cricket and getting pissed right up to the eyeballs?

caitlyn -> RE: College Football (12/9/2008 10:00:36 PM)

The BCS matchups are really bad this season.

Penn State is a good team, but will not compete in USC's back yard.

Virginia Tech ... exactly why is a team with four losses in a BCS game? Oh, I remember, they won a "conference" championship.

Utah and Alabama might turn out to be a good game. Alabama looked like a good, but not great team against Florida, and Utah is full of Seniors.

Texas and Ohio State playing on a fast track in Arizona, is the game for people that still wish we threw people to the lions.

Oklahoma and Florida ... second best Big-12 team, vs. the team from the normally strong conference that is really just average and quarterback challenged this year.

Bowl game results

So far I'm 3-2 on my guesses, er, picks.

The TCU vs Boise State game should be a really good one on the 23rd. I watched TCU's defense just destroy BYU earlier in the season -- TCU's defense looked really fast and made BYU look like slugs.

Sanity -> RE: College Football (9/12/2009 9:50:29 PM)

This is great. Boise State University is off to a great start again this year, they're undefeated two games in and ranked number 11 in the USA Today poll and number 12 in the AP poll, which is fantastic for an area with Boise's population.

BSU beat Miami of Ohio tonight on the blue turf 48 - 0, finishing up the game with their second string players. I really feel sorry for Miami of Ohio's head coach, he didn't look too happy for most of the second half.

I am confident this is going to be a great season for the Seattle Seahawks too, my favorite pro team!
