Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in Alternative Lifestyles (in the news) but, figured what the hey, this topic isn't in the news lately so it must be just a 'in-tween' topic. (mods can move it since I am unsure which category it fits in myself). How many or who....is so talented yet never made it bigger in mainstream music or film because of either time (pre-outing period) of their prime died out, location or other?????? Elton made it, he is homosexual, but in the early days when we had cassette tapes or records he wasn't even on tv. He wasn't out officially for decades later. I was listening to K. D. Lang tonight again. She has been out, since before she was even 'IN' lol. Did that hinder her? By Gods she has the most gorgeous voice, unbelievable, remarkable voice. Boy George...did he come about from the UK all flamer as a shock to North American Media? Was it gimmick enough to give a bounce to legitimate homosexuals to make their mark or did it only open a pandora's box to allow an entire confusion of unknown sexual breeds upon us watching early MTV/MUCHMUSIC (in Canada)? Rock Hudson hid his homosexuality for decades also. I guess that helped him, yet might have hindered others (??). Alike the fashion design business that was once predominantly female (home interior also) and now it is probably half male based/owned....when will the music and film industry learn or live by a given talent and not by gender role bias that one will do well or not do well at a certain field in these example industries (film/music/writing/singing/acting? Is it their looks? lack of ambition? Their clothes? Why does it seem some great ones are underrated yet there are the Brittanys of the world making big cash for having the talent of a goldfish slurping the side of a champaigne glass???
