All because of a few words

Who would you believe, the passengers or the police ?

Oh god Aneirin who knows. I mean the facts are so blurred arent they we have no idea what was happening only that it was a period of absolute fear about bombings and whatnot. Im pretty sure that both parties acted in a bad way, the police had a split second to decide what to do. Maybe they didnt follow protocol but who really knows.

The protocol is there for good reason, it is the standard lawful challenge that must be issued by lawful security of any type. It is drummed into security people as being the most imperative first thing to do when a situation arises. A failure to hear words shouted clearly of the type, 'police, stand still ', and I had to hefty blokes running at me, I would run too.

Well i watched the reenactment and it says approximated based on court evidence. At one point one of the officers says it's not the guy they were looking for. They had four plain-clothes officers on the train with him. and one just outside the door. Four people unknown to him likely watching him. Robbery? One of the guys points at him, then another one of them walks past him to the other guy and again points at him. About this time three  casually-dressed police with guns come on to the train. The guy walks over to the casually-dressed  officers. One of the original four guys forces him back down in his seat. The casually-dressed  officers come over while the plains-clothes officer is holding him down and shoots the guy dead. The pain-clothes officer is dragged off the train and guns are pointed at his head and chest by the casually-dressed  officers.

I doubt Menezes knew the four were police. As far as i can tell he did nothing wrong. Basically the casually-dressed  officers came in saw two men pointing another guy out. Which probably made them think he was really the guy they were looking for. They watched a man force  the suspect into a seat and likely struggle. They then walk over and shoot the suspect. Drag the plains-clothes officer out and almost kill him too. Which tells me they did not know who he was. Which makes me think Menezes didn't either.

The passenger that were on the train mostly thought the guys with guns were terrorist. And none of them say they heard anybody say they were police. Which judging that the officers almost killed one of their own sounds like the truth.

A bullshit situation. And what of the real terrorist? Is he out there happily blowing shit up or did they eventually catch him?
