Today is  Christmas cookie baking day and I have yet to solve the problem of how do you store 25 dozen various cookies so that they don't go stale, break or flatten each other.  Right now I'm putting them in large catering tins with wax paper to seperate the layers.  But they always wind up squished and hard.
Suggestions as to what works for you all please.

Seven Tips For Freezing Cookies

Cool cookies before wrapping and freezing them. This prevents moisture from forming when a warm cookie is exposed to the cold air in the freezer.
Store cookies in a cold freezer, as close to 0 degrees as possible.
Wrap cookies well before freezing them. Wrap one or a pair of cookies in plastic wrap, then seal them in a plastic freezer bag, rigid plastic container or gift tin. Then label the containers with the date and contents.
Store cookies inside the freezer rather than the door shelves, which are warmer.
Leave cookies in the freezer no longer than three months.
Defrost cookies with their wrapping in place. The moisture that forms during defrosting forms on the wrapper, not the cookies.
After you bake and cool cookies, wrap them individually in plastic wrap and freeze them in gift tins. Wrapping them in plastic wrap looks attractive and keeps them fresh tasting. When it's time to distribute them, simply remove tins from the freezer as you need them.
I love cookies.

If you have cookies that are soft, and should stay so, put an apple into the tin with them.

Let me eat some so you don't have to store so many

I agree with the above. Speically about freezing them using both foil and plastic wrap. That way you'll have some still fresh in a few weeks from now. Just remember to let them warm up ahead of time. Both my grandma and sister do that works great for them.

Use good sealing tupperware and put a slice or 2 of cheap store bought  bread.

I was going to suggest Tupperware or Rubbermaid containers, too.  More containers of fewer cookies each are better than stacking large amounts of cookies into a huge container.  If you have a bear-deer-raccoon-Owner59-safe porch, they keep better outside in the cooler air, too.

This is not a problem Aileen.  I'm surprised this has become such a cumbersome task for you.

Solution; Email me your physical address....I show up with my truck....we put the cookies in the back of my truck....I take them to my house for storage.

(What could be safer?)

I've always had good luck with putting in the slice of bread to keep them from getting hard and stale.  swap out the slices of bread as they get stale.

I freeze the unbaked cookie dough, and then bake and put in tins only as needed. Saves room in the freezer also.

Aileen, well aren't you the domestic Goddess!
I would say put them in a rubbermaid container with a damp towel over them.
Or maybe a couple of apple slices like Sandra said.
Oh, how about some pics of them on your profile?
I used to make them years ago, had a Christmas Tree mold, Angel, Snowman, and a few others.
It was always fun making them!

Step one - Invite all the subs/slaves you know over and demand that they bring all the baking pans/cookie sheets they have. (This may require some bribery - cookies may work but if you have a sadistic streak request that they hold the cookie between their teeth with out biting.)

Step two - Stack cookies in single layer or bottom of each baking pan/cookie sheet.

Step three - Have subs/slaves hold out hands and stack baking pan/cookie sheet in hands. (Please rotate pans 90 degrees if you have to put two or more pans in one hand.)

Step four - Have them stand perfectly still until cookies are needed.

Step five - Have them serve cookies. (Note make sure they are appropriately dressed for the occassion.)

Step six - Send me some cookies. I promise to return the sub/slave - eventually (well maybe not)
