Thank you all for the advice!!!

I have now officially squeed myself out. I mean I know that me shaving him with a straight razor is a BIG statement of his trust for me.
But like....now i KNOWKNOW its a big statement of trust.

gah......

*makes a scrunchy face and glares at the straight razor*

I'd be far too nervous to do a straightrazor shave either.

A "well lathered beard" is already 1/2 shaven. PM me if you need any advice. :-)_/ LM

He'll be a lucky man once you learn. If it's any comfort, the jugulars aren't particularly close to the surface...

Be sure to shave your Dom w. a wet beard -- ideally, right out of the shower, cover his face w. a hot towel. Be sure the razor is as sharp as possible -- I'd just sound it out to be sharpened, really stropping it should be enough. Caswell something or other makes a nice sandalwood shaving balm, which helps for afterwards.

You may want to consider an old style safety razor, prior to moving on to a straight razor -- I think the blades I use are feather brand -- Japanese ones made by a company which makes scalpels as well -- they also make disposable straight razors.

The balloon is probably an excellent idea.

Talk about a hint...

Nah, just kidding. He is a trusting sort, though, I will say that for him. Either that, or he is secretly a masochist.

LMAO I could open my own subby barber shop, with hot chicks like in hooters giving old fashioned shave and a hair cut, boot blacking, like those old nice barber shops....that sounds kind of hot o.0

Oh, yes!! i'll work there!!  i could definitely get into that, although i should really get new glasses before i try doing anything like that for Sir.

k.

Sir bought me a straight razor. HE wants me to eventually learn how to give him a good old time barber shop shave.
You know, the warm lather, hot towels, close shave, maybe a bit of a neck massage.

How the hell do I even go about learning that? Its a STRAIGHT RAZOR. its a really big knife on the end of a foldy sticky handle thing.

It scares the piss out of me. Like....seriously, scares the crap out of me. THAT'S HIS JUGULAR. I"d like it to stay where it is thank you......

I understand his thought process here. That would suit me fine in the morning with a conversation about the day ahead.

It can't be that difficult. You could go to a barber's shop and ask for advice or have a look on the internet for tips.

I suppose you're going to have to learn to trust your abilities and keep your nerves under control - which is part and parcel of being a good servant.

Edited to add: there's no use in having a servant who isn't upto the task........time to step upto the mark! A fair man will appreciate that it will take time for you to learn and that the first time you use the razor on him there is a risk that you will cut him. Once you're up and running and have passed the learning stage then the onus is on you to shave him with skill and care.

ranja -> RE: Straight Razor shaving (6/22/2009 5:24:34 AM)

so six months on...how's the shaving going? He still alive?

I shave my Man often as He dislikes shaving Himself, i use a normal razor with five blades...i would love to learn with a single knife...maybe start with only His cheeks...i might suggest it...

Fitznicely -> RE: Straight Razor shaving (6/22/2009 6:58:01 AM)

I've been shaving with a cutthroat for years and I love it! Can't bear normal razors anymore. It feels like I'm running a wet, blunt stick over my face.

What I'd suggest for beginners is that the guy learn to shave himself with it first. It's a lot easier to guide someone else when you're used to things like the angle of the blade, pressure needed, etc...

I don't use any soap at all when I shave - hot water, just barely tolerable, and sometimes a hot towel...that's all that's needed to open the pores up enough to get a good cut.

Joseff -> RE: Straight Razor shaving (6/22/2009 6:16:04 PM)

I have used a straight razor off and on since I was about 17. It is truly a luxury, For my birthday last year debbie and my other sub bought me a new razor, (well, used from a barber, actually, but new to me). I proceeded to dig out my Japaneese water stone and made a stroppe, then dug out my old badgerhair brush and marble soap bowl. If I debbie asks me to shave her again, I'll treat her to the straight razor, should give her a thrill. she's also pretty fond of the stroppe.

MaamJay -> RE: Straight Razor shaving (6/22/2009 7:59:02 PM)

The first hosts of the parties I used to attend in My home town frequently did demos of Him shaving her pubes with a straight razor ... got Him more business at His barber shop LOL! I swear every woman's "bits" were trying to crawl inside as we watched.

It IS a huge responsibility to be asked to shave Master ... i use a regular razor and trimmer on His mo and beard, which varies from full (just a trim, good!) to just a goatee (oh oh, lots of shaving!). At first i was so nervous about getting it even ... a bit more off this side ... hmmm, now a bit more off that side ... oh, well, a bit more off this side then etc! He said "But you groom the dogs!" (westies) and i said "Yeah but have You seen all the different lengths of hair on them??" But i've got used to it now and nobody's ever said "Hey your beard's crooked!" so i can't be doing too bad a job!

How's the OP's Master going??
