cyber -> Recommendation on books (12/15/2008 3:11:55 AM)
My understanding is that to be a good dominant, more than enthusiasm is needed. I think it is combination of techniques for BDSM plays, and abilities to control and dominate the sub mind.
I am looking for some good reading materials in this area. I wonder if some non-fiction books has been published based on real experiences or real studies. Has any one came across such a book?

Reading a few books on the subject is a great idea. Go punch "bdsm" into Amazon and have a look at some of the stuff that comes up. There are, however, no truly authoritative tomes--you must decide for yourself what makes sense for you and what doesn't. I've read all sorts of different books on the subjects... but as far as an introductory starting point goes, perhaps this one would work: http://www.amazon.com/New-Topping-Book-Dossie-Easton/dp/1890159360/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1229354299&sr=8-6 (If that link doesn't work just scare up "The New Topping Book.")
You may find that being a good Dom requires more than just techniques for control... that there are nuances to BDSM that only come out when you dig deep into the psychology behind every unique dynamic you form with a partner...

The first book I either recommend or even give to some one is "The Loving Dominant" by John Warren. If you check Amazon.com you'll find it is about US$12.00 or so. Now John is an interesting chao who is active in the scene, I think is still doing seminars and of course is a member here of CM and who I see toddling about the forums from time to time. I have found him a beaut bloke to talk to..

There are two folks who have great book lists on this site. One you can find here from Resident Sadist http://www.collarchat.com/m_1726118/tm.htm and the other you can find by looking up MasterFireMaam. Their lists are far superior than the few titles I would recommend.
