Status: offline 		Can you name a few things (or more) that you can do or will do this Christmas to make it more green or eco friendly?

I bought solar powered outdoor xmas lights.
My tree is still the same fake one I've had for 15 years.
Since I give a lot of books or magazines, I wrap them in newspaper.

How are your solar lights working out for you?  We bought a few strands last christmas.  Not too bad.

Status: offline 		I'm going to give cash....that's about as green as I want to be.  Green is a great color for frogs but, as kermit once said, "it's not easy being green"....   :)

Make my own? lol pfttttt no not in many decades when tikes had fun doing it.

lights are ok, but only had one bright day since. The snow melted and it is pure rain no sun plus no reflection off of the snow.
They are supposed to work nevertheless but only after a few light days.

You can find some good, rare books second hand that no publisher has duplicated in a good long time.  Nothing wrong with that.

Status: offline 		Nope. I'm not worried about being green for Christmas.

All though we do have like10 things of wrapping paper from last year and the year before and the year before, so we're not buying any new wrapping paper or tissue paper, since we save all the tissue paper for next year if it's nice enough to save. And my dad does burn all the used torn up  wrapping paper, but that's not in an effort to be green it just makes handy fire filler.

Status: offline 		I am grateful that the only people I have to shop for, are 3 people. However I went overboard on Daddy this year, and last year, because his birthday is December 18th, and then we have X mas.

And I never did believe in doing the whole merry birthday Christmas this is all your presents in one shot deal, so I make sure the gifts are seperate gifts, for each ocasion.

That happened here also. Then one year, when I was stressing about money and what to buy for whom. I made an executive decision. Told everyone that I didn't think we should exchange gifts anymore.

" I mean, it's getting rediculous and some of us have kids and our own stuff to worry about. It just seems silly to continue doing the whole gift thing. Let's just concentrate on enjoying being together and forget the presents. "

You could hear the sighs of relief! It seems that no one really wanted to do it, they just felt they had to. Once they were given permission to stop, they were thrilled. Anyone that continued to do the gift thing ( some grand parents ) were doing so with the understanding they might not be getting gifts in return. Which was fine with them anyway.

It makes for a much more enjoyable holiday season for everyone.

Status: offline 		using gift bags and boxes instead of paper, and people are coming out here instead of going to the prairies, so less energy being used for heat. And having people stay with family instead of a hotel, It costs about the same for us, but this way there's less driving, and hotels are pretty much the opposite of eco-friendly. Even though I do like having people make the bed for me haha

Status: offline 		Here I was reading the title as who won't have snow on the ground. And judging by the weather reports here, it won't be me.

Try to do as few shopping trips as possible. The more specific trips you take, the bigger the carbon footprint.
