p {margin:0px;}I get depo every three months, and my arm is always sore for a good day or two, and today I got my routine tetnace, and my arm was fine then a while later my Daddy hit the spot I was injected accidentally and I was like well maybe let me rub it a little  and it's burned and hurt ever since.

Also does any one else develop tiny raised pink dots at the injection site?

I do get the dots, but I don't usually get pain afterward unless it's in my hand.

Have you ever asked a doctor what the dots are? It's kind of annoying for me, since the fleshy colored bumps stay for a while.

It's your body rebelling against having a sharp metal object shoved into it.  It's angry.  It will get over it.

Not unusual to react to something like a tetanus shot.  I got one a number of years ago and my arm got very swollen.. and felt hot.. and was *very* sore.  I flipped if someone came within 10 feet of me LOL "BACK AWAY!!!!!!!!!"  :-)

Gotta be careful if you start feeling sick, running a fever or something.. and if it doesn't dissipate in a reasonable time frame, you should scoot back to the doc's..

Cookie today he was grabbing the area very close to the injection and I was like hey ow ow ow no touch that, that's my injection site. Good thing he's not a sadist or he'd be touching it an poking it on purpose lol.

Thanks for the advice about if I begin to feel sick or feverish, none of that so far just a sore arm.

You are not supposed to rub the lump that forms after a Depo injection as it disperses it improperly.

Perhaps the needle is going under the skin versus into the muscle?

Only shots I have ever had that hurt for days after were from military idiot doctors.  They can't make it as a doctor in the real world
so they play one in the military.  Anyway the military uses the shot guns.  If you happen to move a little bit...well you're sore for days
on end.
If you stand still...and so do they.  Doesn't even hurt.

It does not matter if it is in the bum or in the arm, getting a shot just hurts!

Especially if you suffer from fibro and getting your steriod shot so you won't hurt so much in 20 degree weather...

Shahar, wondering why she is typing this way

P.S. its the meds in the raised area, trying to get distributed via your blood

I don't rub my arm after depo, it hurts to much to touch, but today I did think maybe rubbing the tetnace injection site might help.

The damned tetanus shot hurts for two weeks. A flu shot hurts for less than a day. Different shots cause different reactions.

One thing that can help is to take an anti-inflammatory about an hour before your appointment, so it's already in your system.

the more chubby the arm the higher the chance of the injection going under the skin as opposed to into the muscle.

The only time an injection has hurt was when I was in for an MRI for my shoulder.  It's a "regularly recurring dislocation" and has popped at least 1-2 thousand times (no exaggeration) over the last 17 years.
They'd injected a radioactive dye in to the shoulder itself and the surrounding area with huge needles and after the liquid had gone in it felt worse than the dislocation itself.

It would seem by this thread that a lot of people feel that injections hurt. I've had hundreds of injections but I've only had one that I thought hurt. The nurse gave it to me in the top front of my thigh while I was sound asleep. I woke up and got freaked out because she was standing over the top of me and I jerked my leg up and the needle hit my thigh bone and actually bent. That hurt for about 6 months every time I had to squat down to get something. She got in trouble because I guess you are not supposed to give injections to sleeping patients. Other than that one instance though I can't say that an injection has ever hurt. I've had a bit of soreness at injection sites. When I was in the hospital for a long time they were running out of injection sites because of the huge lumps that were forming from so many injections in the same location....but I never thought of them as actual pain. Actually, most of the time when I have gotten an injection it was because I was so sick or in so much pain that the injection was welcomed. I was on Depo for 7 years but I used to give those injections to myself. I never had one of those hurt.

Got in trouble? She should have lost her job.

And i too have had the needle hit the bone. Those are the only times i have been bothered by injections. Really painful!

Yeah you know, I mentioned it joking to another nurse who came in to give me a shot....kind of like "well, you gotta be better at this than the last nurse". She didn't see it as funny and they ended up making a really big deal over it. I had no idea. I had all kinds of "higher ups" in my room asking questions about it. I actually felt kind of bad that she got in trouble but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that she really just shouldn't have done it....so I was glad that she got reprimanded for it.

it is a HUGE deal. In the hospital where i worked she not only would have been fired but also reported to the state licensing board.
She medicated you without your consent.

The usual contrast for MRIs is gadolinium, which isn't radioactive.  It's funner in some respects to have radioactive stuff in ya, you get to set off radiation detectors!

Coming from the person who tests depo pretty much daily. Depo isn't a liquid it's actually little tiny particles and so that is what is being injected into your body. Technically the particles aren't much bigger than 20 microns, but if they bunch together they hurt like hell.
