Happy Holiday shopping eh?

>.< Old dynamite, no detonator, and some unknown 'terrorist' groups. It sounds more like someone being pissy about large corporate stores than a terrorist attack.

Could be...

Beautiful building, glad nothing happened.

It's not my fault... but I looked at the link with 'roadrunner' and the title with 'dynamite' and I swear all I could think of was THE Roadrunner zooming away from Wile Coyote and the dynamite.

Hijack over.

ROFL camille!

BlackPhx -> RE: Police find dynamite at Paris department store (12/16/2008 12:06:38 PM)

I suspect they will find it was planted not by terrorists who would have included a detonator but someone hoping for a mass exodus from the store allowing people to leave with items they hadn't paid for. Perhaps a disgruntled employee or thieves.

Still old dynamite is tricky stuff, especially if it has started sweating. Fortunately no one was hurt, unlike the two officers here who took the bomb INTO the bank to deal with it. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/12/13/national/main4667335.shtml?source=RSSattr=U.S._4667335

MrRodgers -> RE: Police find dynamite at Paris department store (12/16/2008 12:26:39 PM)

My first thought is...did the police plant it ? Once it is all over the news, any group can appear out the blue to 'claim responsibility' that is either phony or new and simply trying to create some Islamic 'street cred.'

It goes to show that there 'is a war on terror' and they are on the beat.

This could be similar to the terrorist plot in Florida that the FBI created...then broke up and just in the 'nick-of-time.'

Rule -> RE: Police find dynamite at Paris department store (12/16/2008 12:57:12 PM)

I suspect that said store may be associated with the French secret service and that perhaps the owner or manager planted the bomb himself and perhaps also wrote that quaint letter, purporting to be from Afghan terrorists. In other words: a typical black ops.

Edited to add: read the previous post just now. MrRodgers and I appear to independently share the same suspicion.

What color is the sun in your world?

***note--thought better of this a minute later, but since others had already responded, let it stand***

Apparently, the same on that shines down upon MrRodgers....didn't surprise be a bit. Next will be the ones who claim it was Bush's fault.

Damn Euros get all the good stuff... I must have been to a dozen hardware stores looking for dynamite, and I ain't found squat [>:]

GrizzlyBear -> RE: Police find dynamite at Paris department store (12/16/2008 4:42:57 PM)

Sucks, doesn't it?  Used to be (till about the late sixties) you could walk into most any decent hardware store and buy it over the counter.
