Sorry, fatslane, you have confused me greatly. You wrote that you piss everyone off. Is this your goal in life? If so, then you have succeeded which means you can't be so dumb. But if you have done so unintentially, then you have still succeeded in spite of yourself, so perhaps you might be dumb. But you subject line "is it wron for a dom...to be dumb" begs the question whether it is right for a sub to be smart and we do know how some subs are great at..............begging! (Who thought I was going to say SMART?)

fastlane, I have seen your posts here for many months now and they are alwayy fun to read. Maybe you are just going through a bit of "dumb" time at the moment. It is the new year, maybe in 2006 everyone will be pissing you off!

sure it's okay for a Dom to be Dumb, but to be a dumbass and not learn from his mistakes is a different story. Reading history, it's safe to say that you can find both good and bad events in every administration and certainly not all the good or all the bad can be put at the feet of one person ... even if that person is President.

President Clinton had his flaws ... he also submitted five balanced budgets in eight years. The last Republican President to submit a balanced budget was Abe Lincoln.

President Bush has done some good things ... like bringing democracy to the Middle East. I would be curious about two things ... a) did anyone ask them if they wanted democracy, b) didn't we just fight a cold war against a power that wanted to dominate the world by spreading their own political system?

Anyway ... fastlane isn't dumb ... he just asks dumb questions.

No Catilyn, I played the "Clinton only bombed people to get out of being completely impeached instead of just impeachment hearings for lying about getting a blowjob" card. And yes there are both good and bad things in each presidency, but fastlane did ask us to bring it on. And his previous referance had been to peace on earth.

b) No, the cold war has been over for nearly 15 years (I am going with the dates 1947 - 1991, and I do realize that historians will likely fight over these dates). My point was, that the liberal did nothing to bring about peace, the so-called republican has. (Come on, W. you can a veto a spending bill, I know you can. Just try, please!)

As someone who has actually been sent overseas, I see this a little differently. Please understand that I am not attacking liberals or conservatives here and I respect both.

Before the invasion of Iraq, we were possibly the most popular and respected nation on the planet. After the fiasco in Iraq, we have become one of the most despised.

As one Iraqi said, "Saddam hated bin Laden far more than he did Bush and kept al Quaida out of Iraq. The nations of the world had formed a fence to stop terrorists, and George W stepped in and flattened the fence. You invaded where al Quaida wasn't."

And a Russian said (at the time terrorists attacked school children), "We need the US to join the real war on terror. We have knowledge and ability the US doesn't and America has technology that we need. It is so sad that the US wastes its time in Iraq."

Kindly note that I distinguish between liberal and left, and conservative and right. Both conservatives and liberals are important to a nation. It's the extreme right and extreme left that tend to topple societies.

First, thank you for the kind sentiments. I enjoy your posts also, which is why I usually choose to respond to them.

I am more than willing to accept the "wag the dog" theory, as it applies to the Clinton Administration. Then again, in an attempt to be open minded, one must at least suggest the theory that the reason we are in Iraq, has much less to do with weapons of mass destruction, or Iraq being a threat, or a supporter of terrorism ... and much more to do with payback for Saddam making a monkey out of someone's daddy.

And on the response to point a), is there really any doubt how an election or constitution in Iraq will turn out, while we have one-hundred thousand American troops on the ground in that nation?
