My mom had a black lab that would go to the resort next door and steal...tupperware containers, snorkles, fins...a fishing rod....and once, the damn dog jumped into the open hatch of an SUV and stole a package of ribeyes....
My parents owned a gas station/store in the nearby town and my dad was working the day that the tourist came in bitching about some rabid lab stealing his steaks...and asking Dad if he knew the owners of the dog....Dad just shrugged and told the dude that there were more black labs on that lake than you could swing a cat at...and that he would keep his ears open. The guy left and Dad called Mom and updated her about the lakewide APB.
We tried to teach her to be attracted to money...but no such luck.
She also used to sit on the hoods of visitors cars in our driveway and strip the rubber thingie off the wipers and eat them....i say visitors cars because we always parked our vehicles in the garage...
Once she ate a badger...whole...Mom saw the haunches go down....and unfortunately, found the aftermath a few days later....i had to hear that story for a long time, so i thought if i have to suffer thru it...so does the world. Perhaps ill start a blog in memory of good ole DC and her antics.
