Name the first Republican-Declared war and then, post your political affiliation. (One addendum: I will be including the Civil War but ... Lincoln was labeled "Republican", by our standards, today, he would be considered a Democrat. I'm just including the Civil War to see if anyone is paying attention.)

Assuming you mean who was POTUS when war was declared it would be the Spanish-American War in 1898 under McKinley. However the GOP has occupied the white house during many military actions under taken with out benefit of a decleration of war.
