Daddy and I are going to Home depot on Monday for wood. One shape will be a ping pong shape, One shape would be like a pizza pell,  but obviously smaller in size. Pells where used to sliding pizza's into wood stoves to cook. And last but not least one would be a huge circular shape with a squat handle, like the link below.

Honestly i think your first choice is best others sound too large to be functional even if he is a rather strong man.

My personal opinion would be to go standard like school paddle rectangular that's just for pain factor tho all are fine if your just looking for random fun.

Heck wood is fairly cheap do em all lol.

DickKitty, You would of course need to scale it down, since those kind of things were never ment to be paddles, but I think I will try all 3. The wood I want is only 5 bucks and you can easily get 4 out of one wood!

I'm Italian  would tend to go more towards the pizza paddle shape.  In a pinch  a bare hand works pretty well too  ....  :)
"Save a tree, use a bare hand"....   LOL

Yes, bare hands are nice, but you can't wood burn or glue gun or shelack a hand, well you could but the owner of the hand wouldn't appreciate it.

i like my school-style paddles.  always thought i'd like one with "ouch" engraved backwards on it, so it would be legible in a mirror.

Snuggling PM, you mean those fraternity greek style paddles? I'd like those kind too, I was going to buy one offline to decorate and use as a prototype, but they were all like 50 dollars or more.

I found a gorgeous piece of popular wood with wonderful natural green staining running all through it, and a gorgeous piece of pine. The pine has very little knots in it or anything. Though the ends are a tiny bit warped the middle should be perfect for cutting out the paddles.
