Yes, right off the printing press but would you prefer we print it to give to Wall Street? We are printing it now why not give it to ourselves.

How about not printing and not taking instead?

Stop the presses (literally).  Stop the madness.  Just......stop.

Abandon banks, abandon the credit scheme, to hell with the game called "the economy".  Let it fall to pieces.  It's only enslaving us anyway.

Would we be abandoning the economy?  The citizens would have their money.  The citizens would have their instantaneous computer vote.  The economy would be driven by the self interest of the citizens, not Wall Street. I would prefer to trust the economy to the citizens rather that Wall Street.  Our self interest drives the economy now.  Why would the direct application of self interest destroy the economy.  The goods purchased by the citizens keep the businesses going.  Supply and demand still runs the economy but without any false gods standing between us and the execution of our will as shown by purchasing.

CL you just do not trust the citizens of the US.  I trust them to do what is in their self interest and that will control supply and demand.

Ironic that you should select an Austrian strongman to enforce the fascist vision you describe.

I think Arnold is a lot more intelligent than that actor was --what was his name---oh yah Reagon (sic.) I was trying to throw you a bone.  If I suggested The Leader you might have a stroke.  Is this out of the realm of possibility?  It has been discussed by economists.

Eh?????

I seriously doubt there are many--if any--here more trusting of the individual citizen than I.  I trust the individual citizen to do what is best for himself, and, by extension, his country (and thus my country).  I do not extend that same trust to any politician, especially to any politician currently involved in the federal government, which historically has shown itself the entity to be trusted the least of all.

Sure.  How do you propose to accomplish this?

I don't know, it's just my wish/goal/desire.  I don't know exactly how that is done.
Hopefully not by formation of a North American Union, that's for sure.
I've heard economies have been dismantled and rebuilt from scratch before, even recently.  Perhaps that's what will happen if it crashes hard enough?

I think you have just accepted all the assumptions upon which this diatribe has been based.  See 2009 is off to a good start.

I keep hearing you're concerned 'bout this financial mess
But all this thought you're giving this is conscience I guess
If I were walking in your shoes I wouldn't worry now
While you and your friends are worryin' about me I'm having lots of fun

Counting the hours in my job, that don't bother me at all
My search for a doctor goes on without an adequate medical plan
Smoking cigarettes and worrying how I'm going to get through
Now don't tell me, this makes me feel blue

Last night I went to Walmart pretending I was on the town
But you know the prices are all going up, none are coming down
So please don't give a thought to me, I'm really doing fine
You can always find me here counting every dime

Counting the hours in my job, that don't bother me at all
My search for a doctor goes on without an adequate medical plan
Smoking cigarettes and worrying how I'm going to get through
Now don't tell me, this makes me feel blue

It's good to see you I must go I know I look a fright
Anyway I've spent too much time here on these boards posting shite
And I must admit I'm not accustomed to living on the streets
So I must go back to my job and make my day complete

Counting the hours in my job, that don't bother me at all
My search for a doctor goes on without an adequate medical plan
Smoking cigarettes and worrying how I'm going to get through
Now don't tell me, this makes me feel blue
