Went down to the olman's, we figured we'd go over the olady's for a couple of hours. In this case it meant from like 4:30 - 9:30. There were only a couple minor infractions to our rule against gifts. Not really infractions really.

See it is all paid off and our houses are full of stuff, just like when I was downloading music and couldn't figure out what to get next, nobody needs anything. We are sensible in that way, and while we look for ways to convert money into something more useful, now is certainly not the time to do it. The minor infractions consisted of one of those state maps for my sister with all the quarters in it, which she knew he was getting, and a pear. Yup, dad got him a pear, but that's just because they were around. Other than that we have discarded materialism for the most part.

So we enjoyed each others' company in that "two"  hours between 4:30 and 9:30. I also cleaned all the beer out of Mom's refrigerators, but only to save me from a trip to the store on the way home. I bought it all anyway.

We discussed all kinds of things, but not personal finances, Mom doesn't like to do that much. She will not say what she paid for the house, though it is not hard to find out on the net. I did not bring up why she is not renting out the other house, rather than paying for  it, it simply wasn't the time. The HDTV I got her for pretty much a song and a dance got shut off, this is OUR time. We also did not bring up any medical conditions. Believe me, this may have been the last time.

One having had a quad bypass and the other with the possibility of laryngitical cnacer, it might really be the last time. The olman's voice is scratchy and hoarse as hell, and when she didn't hear what he said and asked him to repeat himself, it was great, because they are communicating. Sis and I shut the hell up.

There was no media, no Christmas music, nothing of the sort. No talking about people dying, nor about what to do with the deeds to whatever and cover our ass, no asking how the cars were running even. OUR time. Nothing else mattered.

It was like a time outside of time. A fractured family running together. I hope that everyone experiences something like this at least once in life. Whether the reason is poverty, clever (or lucky) financial moves or even prosperity, to get past it all is to get past it all. Once you get past that wall, you can see the light.

And in that light I see that this may well be the last time all four of us will be here to be together. Hopefully we can pull at least one more but I can't count on that. So thank you Christ, for being the impetus for this day we had. And the other stuff too :-)

Always remember that any day can be your day, so hang in there.

That's really awesome, T.  I'm glad you had a day that was much more than you may have expected.

That sounds like a very cool day Termy.  I am glad you posted as I was wondering how your dad was going.
