       Christmas Eve Massacre

     I never caught a bit of news yesterday, but this is pretty messed up.

Sanity -> RE: Santa's Got a Gun... and a Flamethrower (12/26/2008 6:23:38 PM)

This is why I don't ever try to escalate road rage incidents or otherwise go out of my way to piss people off. Some people are just completely f'n crazy, and you can never know what someone is capable of.

It's sad.

PanthersMom -> RE: Santa's Got a Gun... and a Flamethrower (12/26/2008 6:23:43 PM)

i just read that, how messed up can you get? to get away from the scene in the shape he was in, he had to be on something or be having a seriously psychotic episode!  the poor little girl he shot is going to freak every time she sees a santa claus.  my prayers are with the family.

PM

Was this idiot so dumb that he thought he would be able to fly to Canada like we are some island resort for criminals and act like nothing had happened?

Somehow, Weird Al's song, "The Night Santa Went Crazy" just doesn't seem funny anymore...  How twisted do you have to be to kill your ex wife.... her family... and shoot an 8 year old girl... on Christmas Eve... all while dressed as Santa Claus?!

I'm glad the prick killed himself... may he burn in hell.

If there is a hell.  The "prick" got off easy.  Life imprisonment in a small cell is the ultimate punishment and is also cheaper than the death penalty.

He had planned to flee to Canada so that he couldn't be extradited back to California to face the death penalty. He had the tickets and the cash on him - only problem was, his fuel-spraying bomb malfunctioned somehow and he got high-octane aviation fuel on his Santa suit, suffered third degree burns over a significant portion of his body, and so he decided on suicide.

lol flee extradition? by coming to Canada?  Like I said...what a moron he was.

"This guy was sharp," Covina Police Chief Kim Raney said at a news conference Friday.

TheHeretic -> RE: Santa's Got a Gun... and a Flamethrower (12/27/2008 8:47:22 AM)

        Life in a cell is still life, Lorr.  There is no question that he would have met the criteria for the death penalty in CA.

      It might even get cheaper if we were using it as often as I think we should be.

If there isn't a hell, he got of taste of the fire that many associate with hell when the Santa suit melted on his skin.  I'm sad for everyone involved and cannot even imagine the years of counseling the little girl will face as "Santa shot me" will never be erased from her mind.

Open and shut  cases often make the case for the death penalty.  However, once you hear a juror say "Hell yes I voted guilty, the defendant stared at me and he looked mean"  you tend to wonder.

I'm not sure if that's their policy anymore.  I know Canada extradited that prick, Charles Ng back to California.  He's sitting on death row right now.

Sanity -> RE: Santa's Got a Gun... and a Flamethrower (12/27/2008 2:31:20 PM)

Wiki says that after the Ng extradition Canadian policy reverted back to denying such extradition requests again:

quote:

Along with Kindler, the case was essentially overruled in 2001 with United States v. Burns. In Burns, the Court found extraditing people to places where they might face the death penalty breached fundamental justice under the Charter. In 1998, Ng was convicted in California of 11 counts of murder and sentenced to death. As of 2008[update] he remains on death row awaiting execution.

       Canada might not have been his final destination, anyway.  $17,000 will get you just about anyplace, and I hear it gets mighty damn cold up that way.

17 g's would have gotten him a case of beer, a touque and a carton of smokes. lolol

        Yeah, I've heard that socialized health care has a way of driving taxes through the roof, too....
