That is an excellent idea.

Good morning!
Sometimes it is worn , other times it is not. Daddy never really had a ceremony for me, he just ordered a set and presented it to me one time when I came over. He personalized it though cause it is his favorite color and mine-blue and black. I don't wear it all the time and not all the time we play but it is mine, no one else will wear it..::Stamps her foot and pouts:: lol just depends on the people involved and how dramatic they make it. Have fun!
Love,
Zechriel

is a coller like a ewding ring is there a ceremonee or is it jst hear take ths for the nite?

Depends on who you talk to and (more importantly) what it means to YOU and the person giving you the collar.

I like to compare a collar to a piece of jewelry. It's nothing more and nothing less. It could be a wedding band. Or it could be that necklace that you got from your high school boyfriend for your birthday who you broke up with a month later.

It just depends on the people involved.

what kynds of ceremonees?  duz evere one mk up thr own?

We did not have a ceremony and probably won't ever. He gave me my collar long after we considered me owned and after he'd already proposed. Our wedding is what we consider to be our ritual knitting together of our lives.

Why was that funny? My impression is that the young lady was asking this in a serious manner. Unless you were amused by her poor spelling skills, in her profile she mentions that she has severe dyslexia and apologizes for her spelling. Which she needn't do, I think most posters here understood her perfectly well.

the sentiment "here, take this for the night" is amusing, to me.

yes, there is a difference between a play collar (temporary) and a permanent collar.

no, not all collars are something worn around the neck.  i have a collar that is a silver bracelet, a collar that is a leather bracelet, and a collar that is a silver ring (that looks like a buckled leather belt).  not one means more to me than the other, they're all symbols of the relationship i have with the person who presented them tto me.

the three dollar leather dog collar bracelet means no less to me than the expensive gold chain with diamonds hanging from it...yes, one is worth more than  the other but they mean  the same thing to me, "you belong to me".

i just wear the leather on less formal occasions, or when it needs to be less obvious what the collar *is*.

My comment had zero to do with dyslexia.
point of fact, I am one myself.
It was based on the content of the question.

Sorry, just my opinion but collaring for a night is like a Brittany Spears Vegas wedding

My collar is important but the collar he put arond my heart and mind is even more so.  My collar looks like a necklace because in the field i want to work in a different kind of collar would not be a good idea.  We had our own private cemeory when he gave it to me.  I like that it is someting i can touch and feel when i an not with him.  Most people see it just a a necklace, but Master and i know what it is and that is all that is important to us.

As others have said, some use it for play, others use it as a symbol of their commitment.

I don't think I could ever use one for play, though. If I get collared, it's going to be because I feel a special connection with the person who collars me.

Well, the collar I wear is one that Master made.  He had this lovely piece of metal just sitting in his wood shop.  He decided one day POOF!  he was going to bend that thing and make a collar.  Well!  I'll tell you what, that collar, while it is HIS, sure means a lot to me.  It scares me even.  I know that he can bend steel... what the heck is he gonna do to me?  Hmmmm, is that why I have to do yoga every day.... I wonder... anyway, I take a collar very very seriously.

well wishes,
*tgfka sunshine

My Sir and i wrote our own ceremony for my collaring. He is half native american, so most of the symbolism is from him, using items left to him by his grandfather.. it was extremely moving, and i cried - literally - all the way  through it.  Our collaring is to us the equivalent , if not more important, than a marriage.

and as far as being collared for a play session - Sir had a pet who wanted to be collared while she was at our place. It made her feel more submissive - and what the hey,  why not. She enjoyed it, and it didn't take anything away from our relationship, or meaning from my collaring.

so, really, collaring is what it means for you. If you want to wear a collar for an evening - more power to you. If you want it to be for a serious relationship - why not?
