http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081228/ap_on_re_us/movie_noise_shooting

I can relate.  One of the last times Master and I went to a movie theatre, we had a row of teenagers behind us with verbal diarrhea.  I had fantasies throughout the movie of shooting all their asses but, to be honest, I kind of feared what happened in this story.  I figured they might retaliate, to be honest.  Cripes why can't people have a freakin' shread of courtesy in public?  No, shooting isn't the answer but it sure is a nice daydream when confronted with rude assholes who don't know how to respect others or parents with noisy children who choose to bring them all to a movie geared toward adults.  Just venting...........luci

Pennsylvania is a dangerous state.

AMaster -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/27/2008 8:54:44 PM)

I can't count the times I wanted to shoot some ignorant, rude shit head who ruined a movie for me.

slaveluci -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/27/2008 8:56:39 PM)

Yeah, AMaster, I know.  But, as I said above, the whole time I'm thinking of shooting them, I have this fear that even if I respectfully asked them to shut it, they may just do that to me.  You never know when you're going to light the fuse of a nut.  It's a risk to speak up and ask them to settle since you're never know who you're really dealing with.............luci

MarksFantasyGirl -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/27/2008 8:58:09 PM)

In Philly, yes. I can see that happening.  But here where I am, honestly, I have never been to see a movie when there were more than about 5 or 6 people also in to see the same film.  ::shrug:: Guess it just depends on where you are....

But yeah, if someone was talking while I was trying to watch a movie I paid way to much for, I would prolly wanna do something though.

I am a straight-up bitch when I've paid to see a movie and someone is acting the fool in the theatre.  Last time, a hoard of tweenagers came in, chattered, etc. during the credits, then the movie, so I got the manager, who came in with the other mgmt team, and security, (it's a huge place... 20 theatres, all packed, all the time), and escorted the phukking brats right out the door.  One older gal said, "This is bullshit, man!" as she was getting sent out.  I piped up, "No, this is fairplay.  You can't shut your mouth, get the phuk out."   [>:]

That sucks that the poor guy got shot for just making noise during the movie. I wonder if he got a refund from the movie theater because he never got to see the whole movie ?

MarksFantasyGirl -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/27/2008 9:28:13 PM)

He wouldn't have seen the whole movie anyways if he was talking and such.. so why should he?!?!?

ElectraGlide -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/27/2008 9:30:15 PM)

lol What movie was it, Look Who's Talking or was it called, Look Who Was Talking Until He Got Blasted With Some Lead.

MarksFantasyGirl -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/27/2008 9:31:20 PM)

lmao!  That would have been WONDERFUL!  lol

Aszhrae -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/28/2008 2:28:07 AM)

Might have been better if a gag was used. Tied to the chair.
Who knows, those in the audience might have helped?
                          or
Whatever happened to the Vulcan neck pinch?
                          or
Summon the dark side and pinch the throat from a distance until the guy passed out.

Its late, just being silly.
No one deserves to get shot for making noise in a theater. Could have just asked to have the guy removed.

jlf1961 -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/28/2008 4:58:03 AM)

Excuse me, but having been subjected to some seriously critical comments for an outburst that I did and actually posted about, and admittedly was well beyond rude, even to the point of being belligerent, may I make a simple observation.....

First, regardless of how loud, rude and obnoxious some one is, that gives no one else the right to shot them.  (I am waiting for some gun control supporter to claim it was a justifiable action.)

If the person shot was say, a child of one of you, would you still have the same opinion?

This individual had already reacted in a hostile manner to a family watching the movie, it would have made more sense to report the problem to the usher, or manager, that is why they are there.
I would have even told the manager I wanted a full refund since I could not enjoy the movie due to the rudeness of the family.

Besides, a laser pointer in a dark theater really has a chilling effect, IF you move it slowly and deliberately.  It is not illegal.

Oh, thanks to some brilliant toy manufacturer for releasing an inexpensive set of night vision goggles for kids.  A little modification, such as putting them inside the housing for safety goggles, preferably with the adjustable solid band and not a strap, a few little parts from radio shack to make a nice device that makes an ominous  clicking sound, like a Geiger counter, with a control that can speed it up or slow it down.....

I am not sure if they are still available, but there once was on the market a sport watch that was back let with a red light, with an on off switch and dimmer control.....

It even had a blink control for situations when you were trying to attract attention.....

A few props to make it look convincing, while remembering, never actually say you are with an agency, federal or otherwise....

People are just gullible enough to fill in the blanks.....

Paranoia is a wonderful thing, all you have to do is feed it.....

Roselaure -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/28/2008 5:59:54 AM)

Inexcusable of course but I can definitely understand what drove them to it.  If there is a yapping idiot in the theater they always seem to sit right near me.  I have had people of all ages, all with no concept that they were not in their own living room, ruin a movie for me.  Sometimes I have suffered, sometimes I've had them removed and occassionally I've said something to them myself.  My favorite was the couple who brought three little UMs to "Eyes Wide Shut."

hell yeah.  At my local theatre they will generally give you free passes if you complain about buttheads ruining the movie.  You have to bring your own ammo though

I don't care if he got a refund, I want to know if he learned anything from the experience. Will he keep his family quiet during the next movie?

LeMis -> RE: PA man shot for making noise during movie (12/28/2008 7:36:21 AM)

one time some kids w/ cell phones were at the other end of the row we were in...
then just after the beginning of the movie moved next to us (other side of me) and kept texting,
bright lights from the cell phone were annoying (but not to me) heard all about it on the ride home  [8|]
should have said something but you know how some kids are these days,
probably should have alerted manager but... next time, there will always be a next time...
