That's because when people merge they pussy foot around doing 25 mph.  Put your blinker on and get your vehicle up to highway speed.  You'll find an opening before your lane runs out.  I drive NJ highways (which are probably some of the most insane) all the time, and I've never had a problem getting myself out there.

Well in the UK and on one road I know where the slip road is at the side of a tunnel you are completely blind as to where the traffic on the road is emerging from the tunnel until you are almost at the end of the slip road. Poor road layout perhaps but people should allow for it.

I've never met one but I've seen plenty of signs for them and they all look like deer.

The most inconsiderate and rude are those with the earpiece that enables handsfree conversations. You are trying to tell someone something and they are busy talking to someone else on their cellphone.
Now I understand that business is business, but if someone is inspecting your building, at least the individual could give their complete attention. Inspection is in the details.
Then again, its not like guys listen to girls anyways. Especially since the one to whom is getting their house inspected, comes from a culture where women have very little rights that to bare an air.
What really burns me, is that the guy had already received a full inspection from me as I was instructed to do. Master walks over and does the inspection again and the guy gives him his full attention. Master is telling him the same thing I did.
Grrrrrr. *walks off until needed*

Edited to add: Here's my other pet peeve. Truckers who drive in the left lane even though they're not passing. Now you're going to tell me there's no law against that either?

alot of the time they do this to avoid blocking the vision of those driving behind them

so true...but my personal favorites are those that think a yield sign means STOP.

I have actually bellowed out the window "It is a different shape, stupid!!"

I agree with the cell phone thing, but even worse are those who walk around with the Bluetooth things attached to their ears, so they look like some derelict walking around having a loud conversation with himself.

And, I agree with the merge lanes on the busy highways.  I drove the NJ turnpike, I-80, I-78, and GSP at busy rush hours.  Trust me, Northern Virginia roads are worse!  (Not that I'm trying to one-up ya or anything  )  People go to get on the highway and then panic when they hit the top of the entrance ramp, stop, and try to cut into traffic right away, like, OMG, another opening will never come along if I don't get over NOW!   I found it goes a lot faster if you just (like others said here), get up to cruising speed and cut into the traffic that is starting to break up at the END of the merge lane!  It all goes so much more smoothly that way!  Sometimes I even cut around them, sitting there with their turn signal flashing, and I'm on the highway and moving, while they're still sitting there, hoping someone will let them in.  Morons.

I'm not usually a grammar nazi, nor do I claim to be anywhere near perfect myself, but my latest pet peeve is noticing how many people arbitrarily capitalize random words in mid-sentence.

WTF is up with that?

that's because in some lovely countries we are originally from we do have nouns which we write in big capitals... so it is still in our genes at times

my ex says sometimes (when he corrects my grammar for my work at uni) "you started off soooo well...but then you start again writing germenglish..." once he was annoyed as he had to keep pulling my words apart...as we simply put words together at times, e.g. potato and soup...well, thats one word in germany, therefore potato(e?)soup...but nope...you folks leave it divided I know *sigh*

my pet peeve is when I go into shops and usually don't need a bag, as I am simply used from germany, since a very young age, that you have to pay for a plastic bag at the shop. Therefore I ensure to have my bag with me...so I either get asked at the shop "do you need a bag?" or I say "I don't need a bag" when someone tries to get a bag ready for me for a bottle of drink and 2 cans cat food and then the smart question comes up Are you sure???
Well, no, hang on a minute, give me some extra time to think about *snort* (as GT would say *lol*)
