When i was first instructed to start wearing my butt plug, i also had an issue with discomfort of this sort. It would often take me up to 20 minutes just to insert a medium butt plug. my Mistress now makes me wear one 24/7. Needless to say, i've learned a few tricks in overcoming this:
A warmed up plug usually slides in easier. i just put it in a sink with warm water for 5-10 minutes until it feels almost body temperature.
i also found that squeezing my sphincter, as if trying to have a bowel movement, while pushing the plug in at the same time works wonders to get it in with a minimum of pain.
Once inserted, i would let it sit for 15 minutes or so and then begin to slowly push it out and back in a few times... this made the next time just that much easier and i didnt need any warm up period.
