We are always favorably impressed when someone writes us claiming to be from Guyana. It's the ones claiming to be from some little town smack dab in the middle of NYC that get to us. (when googled, small town sits halfway between Bronx and Queens. So, when we comment, 'So, you are very near Queens?' we get, 'What is a Queens?'.)
I'm also fond of all the Native Americans who write me, who, when I ask, 'What Nation', reply, 'Nation is United States, as states on profile.' uhm - hmm.
If they tell us they are from Guyana, they get points for honesty. srrsly.

You mean to tell me that people lie on their profiles here?......That 19 year old from Accra isn't really wanting to move here? That Ex Financial Minister that E-mailed me wanting to deposit all that money in my account, he's for real though....right?....

Sorry, SM, you got that backwards.
While the ex-financial minister is not, the young lady from Accra really DOES want to move here. (though she may or may not be a - uhm, well - she.)
Anyway, if you can't green card her, just send cash. it's all good.

Obviously true. Anyone who questions this must know few New Yorkers....

All seriousness aside, the best retort to a New Yorker I ever got off was to a buddy at my first job. He'd grown up in NYC, and was fond of asking people rhetorically, "What other city is so nice they named it twice?", i.e., New York, New York.

The first time he said that to me, I looked him straight in the eye and said, "Walla Walla," and walked away....
