It is that time of the year again when we start making lists of the top 10 or 20 or 50 or 100 movies, songs, sports winners and loosers, Olympic medals, fashion trends, economic ups and downs, crimes and scientific discoveries, games, quotes you name it!  What are your top 10 or 20 stories or memories of 2008 and why?

The list may not be much - and it may mean nothing to anyone other than myself - but here it is
 
10) Finishing the remodel on my kitchen
 
9)  Finishing the remodel on my bathroom
 
8)  Finally getting my workshop put completely back together so I didn't feel Displaced as far as getting actual Work done
 
7)  watching my just turned 1 god-daughter take her first steps during the fall
 
6)  finally realizing that I'm Happy being Single
 
5)  my vacation traveling across 5 states
 
4)  building the deck in the backyard
 
3)  getting the hot tub installed
 
2)  being in a position to help my best friend finally get off probation
 
1)  Getting back in touch with people that I haven't seen in 11 years, because I decided to actually start Living again rather than simply Existing

The Top 10 stories and events of the past year for me -
 
10. The Summer 2008 Olympics, wow!
 9.  The election of Obama and Biden.
 8.  The recession
 7. Wall Street tanking 
 6. Bail outs for major financial institutions and banks
 5. Russia invading Georgia
 4.  Somali pirates
 3.  Escalating drug cartel wars in Mexico
 2.  Tsunamis, hurricanes, floods and fires
 1.  Escalation of violence between Gaza and Israel

10. Finding out that haggis is a real food and that people expect you to eat it on Robert Burns night.
9. First christmas with my entire family together since I was 3.
8. Getting incredibly dirty looks while waiting in line the opening night of Dark Knight, because the girls I was with were discussing the Sex and the City movie.
7. The death of my 6 year old guinea pig :(
6. Finding out that my cousin's girlfriend was pregnant, and laughing at him for like, half an hour.
5. A friend getting engaged to the girl I set him up with.
4. Throwing a surprise party for my little sister's 19th birthday.
3. First ever major film festival nomination!
2. Staying up until 6 am on the phone, with my mom on the other end holding the phone up to the tv so I could listen to the oscars, in their entirety, to find out if my friend won (it wasn't airing in the country I was in until the next day, and the webcast wasn't available outside of the states. And in case anyone was wondering, he didn't win haha)
1. Obama!!!!

1. A new grandson!!!!
2. Moved to Portugal
3. Spent a week in Ireland where we got to drink Guiness and go to gaol which totally rocked. [8D]
4. Spent the entire month of Sept. with my family
5. Had a sleep over with NV in California at my Dad's house.
6. Voted for Obama and he actually got elected
7. Got to visit Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, England and Amsterdam all for the first time
8. Made some new friends and hooked back up with some old ones that I hadn't heard from in about 10 years - way cool that!
9. One of my best friends bought plane tickets yesterday to come visit us in Portugal for two weeks.. so looking forward to her company at the end of January. [8D]
10. Last but not least .. I got to spend the year serving, pleasing and being with Himself doing exactly what I do best.. which is be me. [:D]

An interesting year all round...

1.  Started getting involved in the local BDSM community and made some great friends
2.  Met a few total arseholes from cm
3.  Met some wonderful people from cm
4.  Lost 70lbs in weight..woo hoo!
5.  Finally bought a new car that sips diesel rather than gulps unleaded
6.  Realised I'd never be a supermodel, but decided I rather liked the person I was
7.  Gordon Brown as the dullest prime minister since John Major
8.  Became a great-aunty for the first time
9.  Saw 4 on DVD ... one of the funniest horror movies ever!
10.Started a life-long love affair with chablis....yum

On a more personal note -
 
10.  The support of good friends and certain family members during tough times.
  9.  Learning after-surgery caretaking on the spot
  8.  Finding several items missplaced during moving a year and a half ago.
  7.  Getting the garage organized and the back yard area cleaned up
  6.  New breaker box and hot water heater, courtesy of the landlord.
  5.  Discovering two authors whose books are positively addictive
  4.  Learning to be patient with myself
  3. Watching my kitten cat grow into a sassy tom cat.
  2.  Following the roads less traveled, both figuratively and literally
  1.  My two subs

10. Eating cupcakes in the back of my boyfriend's van at midnight
9. Voting in my first presidential election
8. Driving the van back from the dealership after my boyfriend bought it
7. Finally cutting the ex out of my life for good
6. Moving out of my parent's house
5. Drinking Strawberry Mango Margaritas at Applebees
4. Summerfest
3. CATS at our local theater
2. Seeing my sisters for the first time in 4 years
1. American Idol Live in Fresno with my Dad

10 - being nominated for an award

9 - covering/reviewing a record number of 95 shows

8 - hanging out at the press tent during Lollapolooza

7 - finally seeing my young niece and nephew for the first time

6 - winning a signed acoustic guitar during a raffle

5 - watcing my active hunny bunny graduate from kindergarten

4 - hosting a cable-access music show

3 - acting in a documentary film

2 - getting engaged to my pet

1 - witnessing history on election night

10. My father passing away.
9. Finally getting a small local munch group off the ground, and meeting some damned nice folk because of it.
8. Looking at the evidence of a gamma ray burst... that luckily was on the other side of the galaxy from us... so the Earth wasn't fried.
7. election night. The mood of that crowd, who knew that republican evil was being thrown out, was almost better than group sex.
6. My wife geting an "all clear" from her latest cancer screen
5. Coming in 4th in the local "48 Hour" film race.
4. Attending the wedding of one of my old students... and giving her and her husband a pair of very nice floggers for "honeymoon gifts."
3. Finally meeting face to face with one of my favorite artists of all time.
2. Watching a meteor fall, in the desert outside of Roswell, NM, in the middle of a hot July night.
1. Being the birth partner of a longtime friend, who had the most beautiful pair of girls.

I couldn't put these in any kind of order of importance...

Going to a spa weekend with my cousin for our 50th birthdays
Going to Camp Crucible after I had to miss it last year
Taking my best friend out for a spa day and seeing her happiness at having a fabulously flattering new haircut (her first new 'do in about 25 years)
The birth of my first grandchild
Getting my newest kitty, who was rescued by one of my clients
Meeting, in person, some wonderful people from CM and bondage.com
Several wonderful encounters with a very special Master
Being simultaneously singletailed front and back by two hot eye-candy almost-nekkid Doms
Going to some great summer concerts with my friends
Becoming part of a local leadership class to better serve the community

10. Summer Olympics
9.  first cruise to the Caribbean
8.  Obama winning the election..ohhh happy day!
7.  sitting with my best friend of 14years while she was being euthanized (gawds i've never cried so much)
6.  seeing the happiness in my parents' eyes when Dad got his new motorized scooter and wheelchair ramp
5.  the day my mentally challenged brother announced he was getting married  (so i cried some more and never been so proud)
4.  getting a new puppy
3.  15y/o son deciding he doesn't want to be a slacker..made high honors and has stayed there (originally had dang near straight F's)
2.  daughter starting college for her nursing degree
1.  Master nailing my breasts to a board..woohoo!

10.  Voting in my first election.
9.  Cutting quite a few toxic people out of my life.
8.  Made a new friend who changed my life.
7.  Went to the beach for the first time in years, and didnt care what people thought of how I looked!
6.  My cousin had the CUTEST twins ever that same day!
5.  Made a new friend.
4.  New friend became my best friend, and boyfriend.
3.  And then he became my Master.
2.  Made 2 trips to see Master, one of which included New Years Eve.
1.  Master decided I am the right girl to become his wife![:)]

Congratulations to the folks who welcomed new youngsters and critters into their lives, had major relationship changes and over came big obstacles.  Onward and upward and away we go!
