Do you make resolutions- at new year’s or any other time of the year? Or do you make goals ?

i know i set goals for myself for the up coming year. an then at the end of the year i reflect on how or if i met my goals .
i would like to hear from D/s or M/s if they set goals for themself or it maybe there Dom or Master sets goals for the year for them.

i'd like to get out of my tendency towards self-sabotage because of my obsession with negative "what ifs"
it's an issue he's talked to me about on several occaisions
i just like that i can talk to him about whatever, even if it sucks, and i still feel better afterwards

I set goals for myself -- and the new year just feels like a good time for reflection.  my Master set one goal for me--to improve the way i see myself.  i want to be healthier--which means lose weight, exercise, eat better.

Today through tomorrow I will be doing my normal ritual of reviewing this year passing goals, revising, dropping or congratulating myself for progress. At this time I will set new goals in every area of my life. I have a big binder notebook that i use each year to do this. These aren't resolutions though, but goals that are broken down into steps.

I set goals, resolutions  and reinforcements( goals to Me are things not yet done, resolutions are things I need to do better and reinforcements are things I did well that need to keep going)

Goals:

Finish My ministerial courses
Learn to Tap Dance
Get My flute fixed and find some refresher lessons
Ride more
Get the deck garden rebuilt
Put down a new kitchen floor
Accomplish three outstanding activities at work
Get a second car
Lose 20 lbs.
See sub through upcoming life challenges

Resolutions:

Cut off work time at 5PM so I'm ready for family time at 6
Invest more time in UM's self growth
No more one sided relationships with friends or submissives

Reinforcements:
Time with the UM
Growth and support of the sub
Smile
Laugh
Deal with it and move on
Keep the Drama queens out.

My Master does make New Year's Resolutions. I'm not sure if He would call them goals or some other term.

I make goals for the upcoming year. I don't break them down by goals, resolutions and reinforcements but the three concepts are there. It is definitely more logical to organize your goals by subgroups.

I don't do resolutions. I do reassessments of my life...where should my life be right now, what are the trouble spots, what do I need to change, etc...

I don't do the resolutions......I'm with sambamanslilgirl, they are so easy to break within a few days.

For some reason today when I got up and the news was talking about resolutions.  I just made a list of phone calls I had to make today :)

Sorta like a list of things to finish up before the new year comes.  :) so in all honestly, I am just playing catch up.

So I am making it a goal for next year to have nothing to do on New Years Eve 2009 so I can sit and do nothing :-)

As a rule, I generally don't make New Year's resolutions, outside of one, I've never been able to stick to any of them.

But this is the year my husband and I have decided to move forward with our D/s, so if there is a goal, it is to try new things and become more comfertable in our roles.

Kind of lame and generic, I know, but there it is.

I don't make New Year's Resolutions.  Never have.  I feel that if there is something you want to change, then do it 'now'.  Why wait for a special day to make changes that will improve yourself or your situation?

I've never done, end of year, must do's.

Instead I am constantly reflecting on myself, my life, where I need to change things, how to do it without setting myself up for failure, etc etc etc

Your master seems a very smart man. Mind if I borrow some of those for myself?

The only resolution I make is to resolve not to give up anything during Lent. That's an easy one to keep.

I just reassess goals I have made, and look at the progress I made or didn't make.  I find that much more rewarding, and realistic.
