So, I had an idea for a kind of a collarme compendium of knowledge, an FAQ of sorts. Now, before everyone says oh, there are plenty of BDSM FAQs, it wouldn't be traditional. The idea works something like this: there are plenty of topics and questions that are brought up frequently. Things like, watersports, scat, CBT, how to punish someone who likes being punished, et al. I have recently seen a number of posts where someone asks such a question, and many others reply with "Just do a search, it has been asked." So why not create a forum for this.

So, you click the FAQ forum, and it has a number of posts, all locked and only edited by an administrator. For example, one could be watersports. Once you open the topic, there are many posts pulled from all the other times watersports has come up. They would be the most coherent, well written, and informative topics on the subject, from many perspectives. Maybe 10-20 posts talking about safety considerations, ideas on how to make it taste better, why they like doing it, what concerns there are.. etc. Just a sampling of posts. Then the last post in the topic would be a "further reading" kind of thing, with links to the posts that the quotes were pulled from so more could be read. There are a good number of topics that this could be done for.

Also, a nice guide could be made for shopping. Follow this: have a topic posted named clothing. Each posts is something like Collars: and then lists good links to places that sell collars. Another for + sized clothing. Another for furniture. And it would just have some links to places. I have seen a number of posts asking Where can I find X item. This would create a one stop resource for such things.

Sorry for the long post, but it seems like this would be a great starting place/resource, and then those that still have questions could ask something more specific already having prior basic knowledge from these posts. Thoughts?

I am sure for the right amount of membership fees, CM would be more than happy to create a nested archive structure.

Nice idea except for the time and trouble it would cause. About shopping though, links stop working and businesses that deal in wiitwd are rather small and go out of business very frequently. I can see that thread being useless in a matter of months.

People already get bitchy when they get asked to use the search button.  I think it's a good idea actually, but I don't think it will really much actually help.

I'll bet this idea looks great on paper, but who on earth is going to put that together and maintain it?  Besides, the search feature here works nicely, and Google is my friend.  I don't need much more to find the answers I am looking for.

Edited to add:  Guess who is Perverted now?

I like the fact that we could abbreviate this Compendium of Knowledge as "CoK."

Hello Lordandmaster. If it was Compendium of Common Knowledge it would be prettier (COCK). I say common because I would have an agree-disagree rating system. For example from 1 to 10 you could scale the cock. One inch would be 1 out of ten agree with the knowlege tidbit.

EX:    Cock 6521:''Collarme is the best BDSM forum in the internet''. /10''.

Happy New Year everybody! RL.

And lots of times I read "pretty uninspiring social-science yakking."
