By law in the Uninted States of America, does a Doctor need to give you the same quality care as a Vet gives an animal?

there is a difference between a human and an animal of course a lot do not think do
but they do testing on animals for cures for humans

You sound like you have a specific bone to pick.

The laws regarding veterinary care are no where near as stringent as people-docs.... and that's a pretty obvious statement.

I don't know.. but I do think that when our health is really bad and we can't afford care and there is no care for us... we ought to legally be able to be put down if that is what we chose. Sometimes I wish I could go to a vet... they seem to be more humane in many ways. They smile more and even if a patient pee's on the floor, they still like them.

you really have to be kidding me. i have a family friend who is a vet. she is a good vet, but i'd say my doctor is more concerned with keeping her patients alive than my friend the vet is, the vet is more concerned with doing the best thing for an animal, which may include putting it to sleep.

I see a lot of doctors for a rare illness... that isn't taught in the states... I see a lot the typical patient doesn't...but the vets I knew... man were they great! lol I remember two doctors that didn't discredit me for making them study and pay attention. Our vets.. went beyond the call of duty and were kind when we didn't know what was wrong with my sable collie, just kept digging until they figured it out and we didn't have a national debt after.

As has been stated, the laws are much more stringent for doctors and therefore the doctor's can not always do what they feel is right for the patient. They are limitted by law, hospital rules, insurance company rules, etc. The days of the family doctor who was a sole practitioner and visitted patients houses are gone. The same thing goes for extended hospital stays when needed, if the insurance company will not pay for it or the hospital wants you out, out you go even if you just had surgery earlier that day.

I do need sleep, pr spell check, everyone missed United States of America!!! Been ill and noticed Doctors do not seem to care, nor are the required to. They need only by law do the minimum to keep you alive, a vet by law must keep the animal at peak health.

Vets are not required by law to do everything they can for your animal. They can suggest it, but it's up to you the owner to ok what they want to do. You don't OK it they don't do it.

I don't know where you got this idea that vets are legally required to keep pets in prime health and provide prime service, can you post a valid legal link?

If you find your doctor isn't giving a rats ass about your health you have the wrong doctor.

My Doctor is a very sweet women and gives very competent and kind care to all per patients.

You know it often strikes me how humans are praised so often for putting a sick ailing pet to sleep, and how noble and kind you are and what a sacrifice you must have had to make, and please don't worry the animal is better off,

and yet there are some people who're very old and sick and want nothing more to die, before the disease robs them of all dignity and joy, and laws make us keep them alive against their wills suffering day in and day out, and dealing with the indignity of an illness and wasting away.

I think that helping sick people who're not going to get better and don't want to wait till the disease claims them should be allowed to die in the same kind and humane ways we let our sick pets die. With dignity and comfort.

a medical doctor can do nothing without the patients (or the parents, if it is a minor) consent either

Your point is well taken, I did mean with your consent about animals, but, they MUST advise you on the best treatment to keep your animal in it's best health if you want them to keep your animal in the best health and if you prove they did not they are in trouble. BTW if they consider you as owner are neglecting your animal they may be able to get you in trouble. Human Doctors in the USA are not even allowed to suggest any vitamin or mineral will help your health at all, vets must tell you what vitamins and minerals are needed for your animal's health. A human Doctor is not required to tell you what would keep you in perfect health, they are just required to keep you alive, Perfect health they make no more money from you, they want you what they call "FUNCTIONALLY ILL"

Can you cite where you get the "Human Doctors in the USA are not even allowed to suggest any vitamin or mineral will help your health at all"? ... they do. Human Doctors are required to tell you what you would need to do to improve your health as well as follow standards of care. If they don't... its called malpractice.

Doctors aren't out to make money. Most of the doctors we tend to see don't really make as much as we all think they do (and have you seen insurance rates?) Those that do make a hell of a lot more money aren't the ones that actually treat you.

In south florida, a doctor pays anywhere from $143,000 to $277,000 per year for malpractice insurance.

The estimate of a average physician's monthly office expenses, and staff salaries, according to Statistics: Medical & Dental Income and Expense Averages is $25,000, and that's just for the one doc, not a hospital.

Surgeons have to earn 401,000-510,000 a year to just break even apparently....

Perhaps if you told us exactly what the perceived problem is, you might get some helpful information.

Although if it has anything to do with mutism, we probably cannot help. There is not a vitamin or mineral in the world that will help with that. Or so I'm told.

To take it a step further, I have actually been prescribed vitamins and minerals, such that my insurance covered it.

And not that I have had need for it, but aren't pregnant women told to take prenatal vitamins?
