How would I find someone to experiment with in my area? I am submissive and want to try the lifestyle but don't where to begin.

Google your area/town and BDSM munches.... this should bring up differnet munches in your area as well as differnt groups close by you to look into and investigate.

This is my opinion only.... what is best for me might not be best for you...

The best way to learn about the lifestyle is to interact with others in the lifestlye, while reading and learning on the boards and internet what others see the lifestyle as.  Ask each question you have to multiple people and take the anwser that resounds with in you best... There is no one true way to be within this lifestyle just as there is no one true way to live life in general.

Don't allow others to dictate to you how you should be or how you should act... get a better understanding of yourself and what you want... take your time and learn at the pace you are comfortable with.  Do not lose your head in a race to see and feel everthing at once... use common scents and wisdom to keep your self safe and healthy while looking for your path in the lifestyle and the one you wish to spend your future with.

This may take time... remember the important things in life are worth working for and nothing is for free,  use your brain,  understand yourself as much as possible, and know that choices and boundries do change with time and who you are with.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are a beginner.  Some people are excellent mentors whether they end up as play partners or not.  Remember that each relationship is very individualized.  There are few hard and fast rules but the lifestyle allows for a lot of flexibility.  When I was a beginner books like The Loving Dominant and Different Love were a huge help, but there is nothing like real life contact with others who share your interest.

Depends on if you want a Pro or not .A Pro can teach and mentor you but you need to pay for her services. If you are looking for a freebie go to a Playspace, dungeon or munch.

I looked at your profile and it's fairly bare -try expanding your profile using the interests lists that Collarme provides when you edit your profile. While it's not a fool proof way to get responses, it will help others to understand what your interests are and how you'd like to develop and explore your submissiveness.  The world of BDSM covers ALOT of ground, and so it's good to try and figure out where you are as a reference point/starting line sort of thing.

If you haven't tried any of what's listed yet, that's okay, just mark down things you are curious about, or things you think you'd like to try - you can always go back and shuffle the list around later if you like. It's good to have lots of interests, but if you are using your profile to try and snag a playmate, the more information you can give them right off the bat (as long as it's safe and not personal such as an address or phone number) the better chance you have at finding what you'd like.

And yes, it's absolutely okay to admit you are a beginner. My husband and I are still fairly new to this whole scene (at least with the branching out aspect of collarme's community) and we've found that talking about it actually provides positive and helpful responses, so don't be afraid to share that! And Bondage Barbie also has a good suggestion - Pro's are certaintly more expensive, but many people have taken their first steps in BDSM with proffesionals as to help ease any nervouseness.

Thank you all for your help. I will try these things and see where it takes me.

-Search online and in newspapers to find local munches and bdsm groups in your area.
-Post personal ads on contact sites and search for people in your area.
-Browse dominants websites and contact them to see if they'll teach you or if they know somebody that does.
-Search the profiles on here on CM and message people to ask if they'll teach you.
-You can try online classes and tutoring too. (We've tutored and trained thousands of people online.)

Hope this helps.

Do as they say and look for munches.  Tell the host you are new.  They will watch out for you and introduce you to people.
Beware of predators claiming to be mentors as well.  There is no reason in the world why a mentor would ever play with you.

They are there for advice period.
