An extract from grape seeds can destroy cancer cells, US research suggests.
In lab experiments, scientists found that the extract stimulated leukaemia cells to commit suicide.
Within 24 hours, 76% of leukaemia cells exposed to the extract were killed off, while healthy cells were unharmed, Clinical Cancer Research reports.
The study raises the possibility of new cancer treatments, but scientists said it was too early to recommend that people eat grapes to ward off cancer.

What everyone seeks is an agent that has an effect on cancer cells but leaves normal cells alone, and this shows that grapeseed extract fits into this category Professor Xianglin Shi
University of Kentucky: Grape seeds contain a number of antioxidants, including resveratrol, which is known to have anti-cancer properties, as well as positive effect on the heart. ....

Status: offline 		Well this only means that the FDA will now ban grapes and any grape byproducts from consumer purchasing until they can regulate it.

Status: offline 		most likely, soon you will have liquor laws (like we do) or they will soon put more manditory pesticides and additives into the growing process then the wine itself under guise of preservatives or some nasty fear of infection.

not good for the wine industry in general. The US is not used to a liquor control board as we have.

How many people do you know who put that information to good use?

Who says it actually works?  My sister used grape extract...and she is no longer living.  Didn't kill a single cell in her.
Just because it works for some does not mean it works for all.

Status: offline 		The anti oxidants in red grapes are beneficial in many ways....but, I doubt that the grape extract  by itself would work as any type of cure but, may help in prevention much like it does for heart disease. Interesting what nature can do for a person!...goes back to what we all learned as kids....fruits, veggies, dairy, protein...too bad most of forget!

Status: offline 		Well, as far as I know, drinking a glass of good red wine a day, is actually beneficial to health, the trouble is, one glass often leads to another, as red wine, a good merlot or cabernet is so yummy.
