Hi everyone. I just got started on second life and was wondering if anyone is on it. Maybe we can have some fun on it.

Sorry i need 24/7 to have my first life and prefer my fun to be real.

scottjk -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 3:26:40 PM)

I was on Second Life at one time, and I decided it was more about mental masturbation than anything else. I closed my account when I realized I wasn't benefiting from it, at all. Just a big money pit.

camille65 -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 3:28:15 PM)

I couldn't make my avatar walk.

Phoenixpower -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 3:29:08 PM)

My avatar did walk a few years ago, but it wasn't my cup of tea...

sunshinemiss -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 3:30:56 PM)

i couldn't find any rooms to go in... it was just frustrating.... sigh...

CatdeMedici -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 3:35:09 PM)

creepy, avatars stripping in front of you---like getting animated CM mail.

GreedyTop -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 3:38:53 PM)

I couldn tfigure out to even make an avatar.  Removed SL from my computer.   I'd rather interact here, when on the computer.

oceanwynds -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 3:40:44 PM)

No, it doesn't interest me. I too busy with first life and co creating my universe.

submissive4Mis -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 3:42:43 PM)

Yup, I'm there and I'm doing a live reading tomorrow in fact in the sim Bouddicea. My avatar's name is "JodiAnn Saphir" and I have a total of three live readings this month in SL.

I also host a discussion group every Tuesday afternoon in one of the sims.

RealSub58 -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 4:49:58 PM)

When I heard of Second Life and saw it in action on CSI MiamiI thought  . . . . . . . we bicker about definitions regarding who is real or not real in looking for a partner in WIITWD . . . . . and life has it's challenges enough ~ you do know every path has puddles;why would anyone "normal" like me want to spend umpteen hours in a Second Life !!I can't seem to screw the IRS in this life ~ does that mean I can in second life?

monywildcat -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 5:13:50 PM)

Ugh, I saw snippets here and there, and on CSI too, it looks like too much work.  I have enough crap here in my real life to deal with, why on earth would  I want the hassle of a Second Life?  I'm sure it's fun for some, but not for me.  I'm too lazy.  [:D]

Missokyst -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 5:24:30 PM)

Shoot.. I have crap up the wazoo happening in my world.  Computers sitting around needing repair, a mom just out of the hospital, myself just recovering from a major infection, a household to run, an x to .. encounter now and again, a munch to organize.. AND.. lol I still have time for second life.
If i wasnt filling each moment with something I would go nuts!
I was never a gamer, but SL is really a more expanded version of Sims to me.  Lots of things to buy, furnish, decorate, avatars to modify, people to interact with, and personalities to enjoy or dislike.
People will rag on it as not being REAL.. and that they have more Real Life to deal with but really, SL is no worse then coming here to read forums, which most people seem to have time for.
SL is fun.  It is entertaining.  It can be a bitch at times, expensive, dull, .. just like real life, only without having to brush your teeth after coffee.

I say enjoy things in what ever form you choose.  SL, RL.. don't let people's "oh I am too important to play life in game form", turn you off of enjoying things however you can.  I still like slot machines.  I still play nintendo.  I still live a real life. I still get fondled.  And I LOVE second life.  My avatar has as many corsets as I do in real life.  Only they were a lot cheaper.

Enjoy it.

RumpusParable -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 5:36:58 PM)

I signed up and tried it earlier this year since I'd heard so many mention it... and found that it was very non-to-counter-intuitive in getting started.  I'm not at all new to computers or computer games but found it a big pain in the butt to try and get going in.  I'll likely try again later as I *am* a big geek who is curious about it, but so far have been much less than impressed.

mc1234 -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 6:20:11 PM)

I couldn't even dress my avatar!  Normally I'd have gone to the kids and asked them how to do something technological, but, um, yeah, not on this one.  lol

Sandyshores29718 -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 7:13:36 PM)

Earlier this year I loaded it onto my computer and gave it a go...but I gave up. It was boring for me and I couldnt figure anything out. Which is fine...Im more into real life.

YoursMistress -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 7:26:36 PM)

OK, I'm an oddball but I have had much fun and education on Second Life.  I was introduced to BDSM there and found a delightful and dear Mistress in game there.  While I can't say that I was prepared for the physical sensations in RL through my SL experiences, I did realize my tendencies and nature there, and it absolutely led me here.  I find it a fun way to explore things safely and to meet interesting people I might not otherwise.  It's clearly not for everyone, but I don't believe that it is totally useless or that it is Satan.  I do think it's easier and more fun to play there as a woman, but I think that's true for me of any V/R MMORPG ;)

yours

thetammyjo -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 8:32:54 PM)

(fast reply)

Actually you don't need to spend any money to be in SL. I've spent nothing and I've made a decent amount with my online bookstore and readings in there, enough being that if I wanted to buy anything in SL I could. But by and large I don't. It's just on the computer, why spend the money you earned out here on that stuff -- of course I play WoW so who am I to complain.

Plus there are tons of freebies out there and when you find good BDSM sims in SL -- never go for the "you must pay lindens ones) -- many folks will help you figure things out and get yourself started. I've seen folks give out clothes and help people get better hair and so forth.

It can be a pain to figure out. My slave and my husband were on it first and they helped me get set up after convincing me to try it. Frankly I can get real time discussions there like I used to enjoy at local munches and workshops/events without the political BS and I can leave whenever I like if someone's a jerk.

I'm there for community and to make my work known. I'm not there to have sex or scene which I don't really get since it's just online with animation... Doesn't do it for me but talking to folks, finding more people around the world with similar interests that's cool.

understeer -> RE: Second Life (1/2/2009 8:39:03 PM)

A friend of mine convinced me to give it another shot just for something to screw around with and have a little fun, she and her friends have all been tossing freebies my way and helping my avatar get set up.  I concur that it's frustrating to start, but the learning curve does eventually flatten out.
