has anyone out there ever had their landline tapped by a Dominant without your knowledge?.  the reasons for them doing this are obvious but is there any way of telling that this is the case?, any clues or ways to find out if it is still tapped?.  i live in the UK.

thanks

That's CREEPY. Have no idea, but I guess you could ask the phone company to check for something strange and ask them for an advice... or talk to the police.

JohnWarren -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 3:41:46 AM)

Now, THAT would be a big "red flag" for me.  If I were a submissive, if I even had a suspicion that my dominant was doing this, I'd probably run for the door.

I'm not sure how the British phone system works, Cable and Wireless isn't it?  However, with the US system you can purchase a monitor that detects if there is additional resistance on the line.  Check out places like Brickhouse http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/phonetap-privacyprotection.html for systems.

Not that I'm aware of but if he did it wouldn't be a big deal to me since I'd think he'd simply be bored to death with my phone calls to my friends and family.

I would not be involved with someone though who felt a  need to do this since I believe in dating men who can communicate freely and trusts me.

GabrielleSlave -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 3:55:34 AM)

First off, do you think this is happening to you?

That would be a HUGE no no for me at the start of a relationship.  To be honest i am not sure how i would react if Sir was to suggest that to me, but i don't think He ever would.  If however, He did it without my knowing, well that is a different kettle of fish and would imply that He didn't trust me.  Trust, for me, is the biggest part of wiitwd and a paranoid Dom who needed to monitor all my phone convos would just turn me right off...as well as totally creep me out!

Talk to BT about how to go about checking this out.  i am sure there are all sorts of things on the market that will claim to help you, but they should be your first port of call if you are suspicious.  Also, the police are there to help with things like this; they are used to dealing with stalkers etc and have ways set up to help you deal with it.

hope this helps

i dont want to get anyone in trouble so not going to police or anything like that !, just wish there was a way i could be sure.  He always seemed to know my conversations with others and i was so shocked to how he knew these things !.  i presumed he must have been talking to the people i had chats to.  now i realise all the things he knew i had talked on the landline about.

its poss that he could have talked to the people in question but these people include my mother ! and she swears blind she has never spoke to him.  i specifically remember he knew details of a phone conversation i had with her

ArizonaSunSwitch -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 4:02:48 AM)

How far away does he live from you ? If he's close, it'd be easier to just put a transmitter someplace in your house (near the phone).

serisa -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 4:05:05 AM)

to all those who have mentioned trust issues, you are right.  Unless i am wrong (keep hoping i am but dont know how i can be), i am not so much angry or wanting to get him in trouble... just hurt as to why he felt he had to do this without my knowing and what he was trying to acheive.  Yes, i feel like i was not trusted or something

serisa -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 4:07:03 AM)

is half a mile or so close enough?, thanks

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 4:09:12 AM)

Just my opinion, serisa, but I think it's time to start packing.

If you want to test your theory, try a variation on the Canary Trap: tell 3 or 4 different people the same thing but with 1 falsehood.  Something like: you plan to buy some specific item that you would not ordinarily buy.  A pregnancy self-test would certainly get his attention ;)   If/when he asks you about it then you know for sure.

Best of luck.

All he would need is a voice activated recording device near the phone.  It used to be on landline phones that you could check the voice part of the reciever, but I am not sure they make those kinds of phones anymore.  Or you could follow the phone line all the way outside to the box & see if you can find something.

I have had a husband & a long term lover that I believe did this.  In the case of the husband, I made a call to the sitter, & must have hit a button inadvertently.  I heard my words from a previous conversation echo back to me on the line.  In the case of the lover, he was an alcoholic & often was unable to preform due to the alcohol inhibiting his ability to actually feel anything.  I had been talking to a friend of mine & said something about not being sure if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with only his cock being the only one I would have for the rest of my days.   I never did find a recording device, but one day, when we were having a discussion, he repeated my words back to me.  He had not been anywhere near the house the day I had, had that conversation.  It wasn't something that he could have known any other way.  Both incidents were just indicative of the problems we were having that in the end were insurmountable anyway.

wow ! thanks,  just goes to show how easy this can be.  good to make others aware that this must be a fairly easy thing that they could be a victim of

Hello serisa,
Did you confront Him with this?

How did he answer that?

If you feel you can't trust your Dominant,
there is something not right hon,
talk about it, and move on.
Life is too short !

fast reply

you may not want to get him upset or in trouble however what he's doing could possibly be illlegal and criminal in the UK.

that's how i see it.

having my mobile phones tapped - red flags

BondageBarbieX -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 5:36:14 AM)

That is not something I would tolerate,I would tell this one to get lost

natasha66 -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 5:38:34 AM)

Trust is a huge issue for any relationship.  Phone tapping, no matter what the reason shows a huge lack of trust in you on his part.  If it were me,  I'd confront him - then run for the hills.  But then again, I have no tolerance for deceit....

jen182 -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 7:40:47 AM)

wow, tapping a phone seems extreme, but some people will do things like that....but is it possible you may have told him some things and just dont remember?

Yup that would be the most common. To the op I would ring your phone company, and buy a cheap landline phone (like under a tenner in argos) and if you really think this bloke is doing this dump his ass.

agirl -> RE: phone tapping (1/6/2009 7:53:09 AM)

Have you actually asked him how he knows the details of private phone conversations?

My police scanner picked up home cordless phones, we could listen to neighbors talk. I have not did it in many years, the new home cordless phones are on a higher frequency band. It was legal to listen, the airwaves are free. You just could not reveal anything you heard, even if you heard a crime was going to be committed. I do not think you can listen to cell phones on a scanner, they are probably encrypted, and people are paying for the air wave use.
