CatdeMedici -> Marriage? (1/9/2009 7:29:14 AM)

Ladies:

How many of you entered into your relationship with the hopes that marriage would be Your end game?

How many of you say, (like Me), you may be My sub, but you won't ever be My hub?

I will never marry-- (A) My reasons are simple, I have far too many assets to be tied up in community property that need to go to said UM

(B) been there done that and won't go again

Submissives: How many of you enter into the relationship hoping for marriage as an end game?

kittinSol -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 7:30:41 AM)

I'm not saying anything in the absence of my attorney [8|] .

Venatrix -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 7:31:20 AM)

Marriage was, at one point, something I was open to as the result of a committed relationship, but after this past disastrous year, I can't even bring myself to go on a date.

LaTigresse -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 7:31:28 AM)

When I entered into marriage I didn't have much of a choice and lord knows there wasn't much of any thinking allowed to go into it.

Getting out of it was much more difficult.

I dont hope for marriage, i was never one to have fantasy weddings or owt but at the same time I dont think id want to be with someone who says its not an option... im young and confused so im allowed to make no sense

Rainfire -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 7:35:06 AM)

Marriage wasn't in my plans, I was quite happy single. Like you, it was the proverbial "been there, done that, don't need to do it again". I joined CM for the forums on the recommendation of a friend. And there I met Lumus and I found my thoughts and feeling changing. I still wasn't expecting marriage, just friendship but it has worked out totally different to that. We both knew that if we got serious, a long-term monogamous marriage after collaring was the only way we'd do it. And that's where we're at..... [;)]

But in a nutshell, no, marriage was not in the plan as the endgame.....

I want someone who love's me enough to marry me without the expectation of doing so.  It will not happen.

Yars. And I will pinch your bum for stating the facts.

Dnomyar -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 7:40:51 AM)

Is polygamy allowed in this post. I want to marry all of you. I have been down that road twice. If you can sweep me off of my feet (no broom or pulling the rug from out under me) and bring yourself to ask me to marry you then lets talk.

Be careful. Common law marriage cases do see the light of day--including palimony.

GreeneGoddess -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 7:42:18 AM)

My slave and I have been together for 10 years now.   Our legal right to marry is questionable since she's also female, but realistically - it's not something I'm overly interested in.   We made a commitment when we entered into a collared relationship, and we both wear tokens that mark us as committed to one another.  Our finances are interwoven, and we have legal agreements to protect both of our investments in our home and other mutually owned assets, and personal commitments as far as how we handle the rest of our finances.  These arrangements didn't happen overnight.

I would eventually like to have a male slave where the commitment is equal to the commitment I already have with my slave.   Nope, wouldn't legally marry him either.

MissMorrigan -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 7:53:22 AM)

When I entered into a relationship with Reality, it was with the intention to have a fulfilling life, for us to explore mutual desires, create new ones and become the best we possibly could, both individually and as a couple - with one exception. I made it clear from the outset that marriage would not be part of the equation given his age (19 years younger than me) and the fact he may change his mind about fathering children in the future - having more children is not something I will contemplate at my age (45 in March). And to be honest, marriage is not something that would enhance our relationship in any case - we already have our contracts and they are far more meaningful than the church/government's validation of us.

Oh, for God's sake, Raymond, most of the women on Ask a Mistress aren't *that* desperate.

VampiresLair -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 8:18:42 AM)

Marriage is not something that my Owner and I were seeking when we entered into our relationship, but it is where we are going to ultimately find ourselves.  We were both actually quite vocal about not wanting marriage and we both have our reasons.  The longer we were together, however, the more we wanted that with one another.  So, she asked me to marry her almost a year ago...I said yes.  We will likely be getting married this coming October.

Marriage was not the plan, but that changed.

Well, I am married but we are poly so I also have a slave.

Can't legally be married to more than one man and the only reason I would marry my slave would be for legal protections for us both.

Otherwise, I personally see the roles of husband/wife quite differently than those of slave/owner.

We prefer the term `eccentric'.

SnugasaBug -> RE: Marriage? (1/9/2009 8:32:11 AM)

Five years ago I would have said that I wanted a "soul mate" and that would hopefully be a commited marriage type of "Happy Ending". Interestingly enough, five years ago I was with someone that eventually had red flags sticking out of every pore. Image that ! ( it was a revelation to me how close I was to a financial calamity )

Today, I do not yearn it. At my age, my assets preclude me from making the same financial committment to another partner. I have um's that should rightfully inherit what I and past marriage partner (their father) built up.
I am still pondering if I want to go this route, anything is still possible.

Does it depend on your stage in life ?
