ORIGINAL: subm4maam As an avid Sooner fan, I am very disappointed in how the game turned out, but c'mon... One national championship under his belt, and we at least made it to play for 3 other NCG's during his time. So he gets us to 4 National Championship games in 9 years, but because he doesn't win every game, every time, he's just not good enough? That 60-2 record at home is of course Dismal. As unhappy as I am to watch us lose our bowl games year after year as of late, Bob is still the best coach we've had in a long time. Who wants to go back to the Schnellenburger or Blake days? Not me... I hope the NFL offers don't come his way... but then again, he's already pulling in over 6 Million a year, why would he want the NFL anyway? Those are good points. I would not deny that OU is an elite football program, but I felt that Stoops threw the game away by not kicking FGs in the first half and by not realizing the role defense and field position would play in the game. The first time we were down near the end zone, I agreed with going for the touchdown. I didn't agree with trying the SAME play time after time, but with the time left in the game and the score, it was the right call. Our defense was holding Florida back very well, and if we didn't make it Florida would be starting at the 1. I think Stoops did realize what field position meant and had that in mind. The next time, I think he would have went for the field goal. We had time. It was only because of a very rare tipped interception did we not get those 3 points. Things happen. All in all it was a combination of unmotivated players, bad officiating, and some bad play calling. Thats college football. Florida played a good game against what was one of the top football teams in the country. Props to them. On an off note, we really really need Mike Stoops to come back to Oklahoma with his brother Bob. Mike was the motivator of the team. He also wasn't scared of Bob and would tell him when he was wrong. I think if we had someone there again to motivate the players and question the coach a little more, we'd be back to actually WINNING our bowl games.
